Williamson 3rd hundred in series powers NZ to 2-0 series win over depleted SA

 


Host New Zealand has won the two-match Test series played against South Africa by 2-0.  Thanks to the magnificent batting of former captain Kane Williamson, the Kiwi team made a clean sweep by defeating South Africa by 7 wickets in the second match.  Chasing the target of 267 runs in the second innings, New Zealand achieved it by losing just 3 wickets.  Kane Williamson scored three centuries during the series and became the hero of the team's victory by scoring 403 runs.


 The New Zealand team showed a strong performance in the two-match test series against the South African team which was dented severely by most of their top players playing in the SA20 .  Kane Williamson emerged as a big challenge against the South African team which was touring New Zealand without big players.  This batsman, who scored centuries in both the innings of the first match, took the team to victory by scoring a century in the second innings of the second match.


 After winning the toss and batting first in the first innings of the Hamilton Test, South Africa was all out for just 242 runs.  The New Zealand team was limited to just 211 runs in the first innings.  After taking a  lead of 31 runs, South Africa scored 235 runs in the second innings and set a target of 267 runs for New Zealand.  Kane Williamson played an unbeaten inning of 133 runs and led the team to victory while Will Young batted superbly to stay 60 not out after New Zealand was in a bit of bother at 117/3 with Latham (30) & Ravindra (20) dismissed cheaply by Piedt who took 3 wickets .


 

 Kane Williamson scored 403 runs in the two-match Test series against South Africa.  During this series, he batted brilliantly and scored a total of 3 centuries against the Proteas bowlers.  After scoring centuries in both the innings in the first match, he also scored a century in the second innings of the second match.  A total of 403 runs were scored at an average during this series.  Played innings of 118 and then 109 runs in the  first test match.  Scored 43 runs in the first innings of the second match and 133 runs in the second innings.
