Klaasen masterclass sets up DSG v SEC final after SA20 Qualifiers

 



Henrich Klaasen continues his dazzling form .

The final lines are drawn in the SA20 & it is the two best & the most consistent teams - Durban Super Giants and Sunrisers Eastern Cape who will clash in the big final at Cape Town .


In the Qualifier one the 2 teams met in which Sunrisers won a low scoring game by 51 runs to get direct entry into the final . Batting 1st SEC  scored 157/8 . They started well with a 45 run opening stand before Hermann (21) was dismissed. Dawid Malan held the innings together with a fine 63 and Markram managed 30 . Maharaj & Dala took 2 wickets each . In reply the formidable batting lineup of DSG failed with their big 3  DeKock (20) , Moulder (38) & Klaasen (23) getting out at the wrong time with Jansen & Baartman taking 4 wickets apiece to destroy the  Durban Super Giants formidable batting . 



In the eliminator  in another low scoring game Joberg Super Kings thrashed Paarl Royals by 9 wickets . Batting 1st  Paarl Royals managed only 138 with Miller (47) rescuing the mid innings while Jason Roy (24 ) got out after a breezy start while the JSK quicks Sam Cook & the fast & furious Nandre Burger with 4 & 3 wickets respectively destroyed the Royals batting .  In reply a big & destructive  opening stand between  duPlooy (63*) & Faf Duplessis (55) ensured a quick finish & a win by 9 wickets for JSK with 7 overs remaining .



JSK then met DSG at Johannesburg in the Qualifier two which was DSG's 2nd chance to fight for a final spot . Batting 1st DSG started promisingly but Breetze(12) was lbw to Cook & DeKock (23) was bowled by a fast inswinger by Burger with Smuts (11) too getting out . Rajapaksha (35) played a crisp knock but was out at 95/4 .  Then came the match winning stand between Wian Moulder and Henrich Klaasen . After a steady start both started to play explosive shots . Klaasen was in breathtaking form again as he smashed sixes effortlessly and Moulder took followed suit as the balls flew to all corners of the bullring as they stiched a blistering stand of 101 runs in only 6 overs !!! Moulder hit 50 in 23 balls and the destructive Klaasen smashed 74 in 30 balls with 7 sixes . Finally DSG reached a huge 211/8 in 20 overs with Burger(2/27) being the best bowler for JSK . 


In reply JSK lost their openers cheaply at 13/2 and never really recovered . There were flashes of brilliance from Hendricks (27) , Moeen (30) , Ferriera (24) and Breacewell (23) but the contributions were too brief to get JSK within striking distance as they were all out for 142 ( Dala taking 4 wickets )  to lose by 69 runs helping Durban Super Giants to set up a mouth watering  final clash with Sunrisers Eastern Cape  .
