Breathtaking Maxwell powers Australia to series winning victory over Windies in 2nd T20I


The second T20 match between Australia and West Indies was played in Adelaide.  Australia registered a spectacular victory in this match.  Under the captaincy of Rovman Powell, West Indies won the toss and decided to bowl first.  Batting first, Australia scored a mammoth 241 runs.  While chasing, West Indies team could score only 203 runs in 20 overs.  Maxwell made a breathtaking century of 120 unbeaten runs for Australia.



 David Warner, who came to open for Australia, could score 22 runs in 19 balls.  Inglis (4) was out cheaply .    Batting at number three, captain Mitchell Marsh played a breezy innings of 29 runs in 12 balls with some powerful strokes .  He hit 3 fours and 2 sixes. It was however  Glenn Maxwell, who came to bat at number four, and scored a blistering  120 runs in 55 balls.  During the innings, Maxwell hit 8 sixes and 12 fours with his wide array of powerful shots including the drives , cuts , pulls & reverse sweeps as the ball flew to all parts of the ground .  Marcus Stoinis and Tim David played cameo innings of 16 and 31 runs respectively and hit big shots .


 In this way Australia's score reached 241 runs at the loss of 4 wickets in 20 overs.  Holder was the only bowler from West Indies who took 2 wickets.  Apart from this, Alzarri Joseph took 1 wicket and Romario Shepherd took 1 wicket.  Now it was West Indies' turn to chase the score. 



Brandon King and Johnson Charles, who came to open for West Indies, scored 5 and 24 runs respectively.  Johnson Charles scored 22 runs only from boundaries.  Batting at number three, Nicholas Pooran could score 18 runs in 10 balls.  Shai Hope was out on 0.  Apart from this, captain Rovman Powell's bat performed well but he could not win the match.  Powell scored 63 runs with several powerful hits into the stands .  Andre Russell was batting well but was out after scoring a breezy 37 runs.  In this way the West Indies team could score only 203 runs.  Marcus Stoinis (3) took the most wickets for Australia while Spencer Johnson bowled quick to get 2 wickets . Hazlewood bowled well to get 2 wickets .   Along with losing the match, the West Indies team also lost the T20 series.  In the first T20, Australia defeated West Indies by 11 runs in a more closer encounter .
