Australia blow away Windies in 3rd ODI, wins series 3-0 as 2 new stars emerge
The third ODI between Australia and West Indies was played in Canberra. In this match, Australia registered a spectacular victory by 8 wickets. Under the captaincy of Steve Smith, Australia also won this series by 3-0. In the third ODI, Australia won the toss and decided to bowl first. West Indies gave Australia a meagre target of 87 runs which the hosts achieved in just 6.5 overs (ie 41 balls). Australia's Xavier Bartlett bowled brilliantly.
Alick Athanaje, who came to open for West Indies, was batting well. But he was out after scoring 35 runs. Apart from this, no player could bat well. John Ottley scored 8 runs, Casey Carty scored 10 runs, captain Shai Hope scored only 4 runs. Due to poor batting, West Indies team could bat only 24.5 overs in the 50 over match. They scored 86 runs at the loss of 10 wickets.
Australia's fast bowler Xavier Bartlett bowled brilliantly and took a total of 4 wickets. He took the wickets of K John Ottley, Romario Shepherd, Roston Chase and Alzarri Joseph. Apart from Bartlett, Lance Morris and Adam Zampa also bowled well. Both took 2 wickets each . Sean Abbott also took one wicket.
Chasing 87 runs, Australia won the match in just 6.5 overs. Opening for Australia, Jack Fraser McGurk and Josh Inglis made a great start. There was a breathtaking partnership of 67 runs between the two. Josh Inglis remained unbeaten after scoring a blazing 35 runs. Aaron Hardy, who came to bat at number three, was out after scoring 2 runs. Whereas Steve Smith remained unbeaten after scoring 6 runs. However it was Fraser McGurk who blasted a dazzling 41 in just 18 balls hitting some enormous leg side sixes and a couple of off side shots too. He is already talked about as a future star in the making who can attack the bowling with dazzling strokes . Bartlett for his 8 wickets in the series in 2 games won the player of the series award
