England consigned to flames after Jaiswal explosion on day4 , India win by 434 runs
India handed a severe mauling on day 4 to England beating them by an astronomical margin of 434 runs . Jaiswal till he retired and Gill had already set up a great platform on day 3 with India at 196/2 overnight . On day 4 it was another Jaiswal show with Sarfraz for company as India piled on 430/4 courtesy a blistering 214 by Jaiswal and the bowlers ripped through the England innings as the visitors were blown away for a paltry 122 trying to chase an improbable 557 target to win .
Starting the day at 196/2 both Gill and nightwatchman Kuldeep batted efficiently and Kuldeep even hit a big six on his way to 27 . Meanwhile Gill was run out unfortunately for 91 and Kuldeep was caught by Root off Rehan for 27 which brought the Mumbaikars Jaiswal and Sarfaraz together.
Both were batting steadily till Jaiswal suddenly exploded in the 40s smacking Anderson for 6,6,6 from where he never looked back . Jaiswal completely walloped the spinners hitting them for thunderous 4s & 6s as the ball was dispatched to all parts of the ground . He was picking the length quickly and smashing them into the stands . Even Sarfaraz was not left behind as he swept and flicked his way to another scintillating 50 . Jaiswal finally reached his second double hundred of the series after a breathtaking display of attacking batting and was 214 not out with 14 fours and 12 sixes with Sarfaraz in support adding 68 not out to his first innings 62 on a brilliant test debut as Rohit declared at 430/4 .
Needing 557 to win , England lost both their openers quickly with first innings hero Ben Duckett (4) getting run out and Crawley lbw to Bumrah for 11 .
The post tea saw a complete destruction of England batting with wickets falling like 9 pins . Jadeja ripped through the middle order getting Pope (3) caught by Rohit , Root (7) lbw and Bairstow (4) lbw . Kuldeep got the big scalp of Stokes (15) lbw trying to sweep and had Rehan Ahmed (0) caught . Foakes (16) was dismissed by Jadeja after a brief resistance and Tom Hartley (16) was bowled by Ashwin who came back to play the test after 1 days leave for a family emergency.
Mark Wood (33) hit a few lusty blows but that was only delaying the inevitable as Jadeja had him caught by Jaiswal to complete his 5 wicket haul and England were 122 all out .
Jadeja for his 1st innings hundred and 7 wickets was thd player of the match . It was a match to remember for India who were missing 5 of their stalwarts but still managed to crush England on a very decent surface . Rohit and Jadeja's match rescuing partnership after 33/3 certainly protected India as their setting up the match proved to be the key for this test before Jaiswal took the match away from the tourists completely with a dazzling double ton
