Dazzling goals help MohunBagan SG to beat NEUFC 4-2 to move to 2nd spot in table

 



Mohun Bagan completed  hat-trick of ISL wins.  They beat Northeast United 4-2 at home on Saturday.  This time they started breathing down the neck of Odisha FC in the fight to stay at the top.  Liston Colasso returned to goal on Saturday.  Jason Cummings, Dimitri Petratos, Sahal Samad also scored.


 Despite winning by a big margin, Mohun Bagan was ineffective for much of the first half.  Their real football is found in the 2nd half .  Since then they have not looked back.  They played good football in the second half.  Despite not scoring, Mohun Bagan captain Johnny Kauko contributed to three of the four goals.  This match showed how effective it was to replace Hugo Boumos in the midfield.  Coach Antonio López Habas played Kawko for the first time in this match.  His benefit was found.


 But the beginning was not good at all.  Mohun Bagan conceded  in 6 minutes.  Jitin took the ball from the left side.  He went to float the cross into the box.  Dipendu was hit on the hand by the ball as he tried to stop .  The referee gave a controversial penalty.  From there, Tommy Jurich scored for  Northeast.  Even after this, Mohun Bagan's game in most of  the first half looked subdued .  Northeast was running across the field.  They went close to scoring a few more times.  On the left, Jeetin was causing trouble time and again.  Zurich wasn't playing badly either.  Bemamar's head hit the post in the 28th minute.  Mohun Bagan footballers were losing the ball again and again. Liston Colaco was struggling to make an impact 



But this footballer from Goa equalized for Mohun Bagan.  The first minutes of the annexation period were underway.  Kouko extended the pass from the right.  Liston scored a low shot from outside the box after receiving the ball.  Goal again four minutes later.  Dimitri Petratos' free kick floated in a header before the box by Hector Yuste.  It went to Kouko standing on the left.  Kawko headed the ball to Cummings.  Australian footballer kicked the ball into an empty goal.  Northeast scored at the beginning of the second half.  Zurich scored the second goal.  Nestor Albiakh passed to Zurich in the box.  Zurich kept the ball at his feet.  Scored with a strong shot with time.  Mohun Bagan did not take time to go ahead .  Cummings passed to Petratos.  In front of him was only the opposing goalkeeper Mirshad Michu.  Petratos scored after beating Mirshad coolly (3-2) .  Four minutes later Mohun Bagan's fourth goal was scored by Sahal Samad.  This time also someone behind the scenes.  Kauko gave a great through pass  towards Sahal.  The footballer of Kerala scored by receiving the ball and making space in emphatic style  (4-2) 


 Mohun Bagan had several scoring chances later in the match.  But they could not use it.


Meanwhile in another game East Bengal had a narrow 1-0 win over Hyderabad FC to get 2 points .


With the above win over North East United FC , Mohunbagan has jumped to the 2nd spot in the league table overtaking FC Goa but just below leaders  Odisha FC

Olympics24 : Ten men India edge out Britain in tie breaker to storm into hockey SF

  India reached the Olympic hockey semifinals by defeating Britain in a shootout. The match ended 1-1 in regulation time, leading to a shootout where India won 4-2. India played with ten players for 42 minutes to secure the victory. In the semifinals, India will face the winner of the Germany-Argentina match.
