MohunBagan win crucial match of ISL10 vs FC Goa

 





FC Goa lost for the first time in this year's ISL.  They lost 1-0 against Mohun Bagan Super Giants on Wednesday thanks to a Dimitri Petratos goal.  Petratos put the team ahead with a goal in the 74th minute.  With that goal, Mohun Bagan defeated the Goa team on Goa soil.


 Goa was unbeaten in the ISL till Wednesday.  Won eight out of 12 matches.  Draw in two.  Mohun Bagan defeated that team.  Before going to the Super Cup, the green-maroon was under pressure after losing consecutive matches.  They conceded four goals at home to  FC Goa.  Antonio Habas's team has now overcome that pressure.  Goa has been the only team in the ISL so far not to have lost a single match.  That  record was broken on Wednesday.


 Goa were building the pressure early in the match though.  Carlos Martinez was repeatedly attacking the Mohun Bagan defence.  But that attack was hitting again and again in the defense of Shubashis .  The first half ended goalless. Their was a try from Petratos with his left foot  piledriver but it was brilliantly saved by the Goa keeper.     The game changed a bit in the second half.  Mohun Bagan increases the attack force.  Kian Nasiri, Liston Colaco were unleased  by Habas.  Mohun Bagan also changed.


 Petratos' goal though was a momentary mistake by Goa's defence.  While clearing the ball, the Goa goalkeeper put it at Petratos' feet.  Mohun Bagan's chance-seeking striker took advantage of the opportunity.  He sent the ball high into Goa's goal with the golie out of position .  The green and maroon supporters were excited.  And Petratos threw a kiss to them.  After conceding the goal, Goa could not return in the match courtesy solid dedence of Mohunbagan.  Mohun Bagan had another chance at the end.  But could not score as Petratos placement just went wide .  Otherwise, the gap could have widened.


With this 1-0 goal win  Mohunbagan has moved to the 3rd spot in the league . Odisha FC is at the top spot followed by FC Goa despite their latest loss . Kerala Blasters is at 4th spot and the formidable Mumbai FC is at 5th spot . East Bengal is languishing that the 10th spot .

Olympics24 : Ten men India edge out Britain in tie breaker to storm into hockey SF

  India reached the Olympic hockey semifinals by defeating Britain in a shootout. The match ended 1-1 in regulation time, leading to a shootout where India won 4-2. India played with ten players for 42 minutes to secure the victory. In the semifinals, India will face the winner of the Germany-Argentina match. A win in Tuesday's match will ensure a silver medal for last time's bronze winners at the Paris Olympics. Following the advice of video umpire , Indian defender Amit Rohidas was shown a red card in the fourth minute of the second quarter for unintentional stick contact with a British player’s head.
