AusW v SAW Test : Aussie bowlers destroy South Africa, lead by 175 on day 1

 


It was a dominant performance by Australia    women on day one of their 1st ever test vs South Africa women at WACA Perth . Winning the toss and bowling first on a pacy WACA pitch Australian quicks were all over the Proteas blowing them away for only 76 and after initial hiccups piled on 251/5 at close with Healy and Mooney leading the way .


Bowling first Australia struck quick blows with Bosch (0) unable to keep down a quick ball from a fiery Darcie Brown who also had Wolvaardt (4) caught in the slips brilliantly . Brits was lbw to Sutherland for 5. Luus (26) resisted for a while before getting caught in the slips off Sutherland who bowled Tucker for 0 . Then Brown and McGrath took over to rip through the lower order to get South Africa all out for 76. 


Darcie Brown was the most successful bowler with 5 wickets followed by Sutherland who took 3 wickets while McGrath snared 2 wickets .


However the South African bowlers hit back quickly through Klaas who knocked over Litchfield (4)  , Perry (3) and McGrath (0) all getting caught in the slips or keeper as the hosts slipped to 13/3 . 


Then Beth Mooney and skipper Alyssa Healy stepped in to weather the storm and then start to unleash their glorious strokeplay as they piled on the boundaries and runs with drives , cuts and flicks . Mooney (78) looked in control when she was finally dismissed by deKlerk . Sutherland came in and stepped up scoring a fluent unbeaten 54 but just before the close Alyssa Healy looking for her 100th run was caught and bowled by Delmi Tucker for 99 .


At close Australia women reached 251/5 and now has a lead by 175 .
