Sunrisers Eastern Cape thrash DSG in final to lift SA20 for 2nd year in a row

Sunrisers Eastern Cape put up a dazzling performance in the final to thrash Durban Super Giants by 89 runs to win the SA20 for the second time in a row . Winning the toss and batting first SEC piled up 204/3 and then their fast bowlers proceeded to rip through the formidable DSC batting to notch up a fabulous victory .

Batting first Sunrisers Eastern Cape was off to a sluggish start as they lost Dawid Malan (6) early lbw to Topley  . However Tom Abell and Jordan Hermann got into a rollicking 90 run partnership in 9 overs to set up the innings . Abell played astounding shots and specially his scoops and lap shots were a treat to watch while Hermann played his drives , cuts and lofted shots superbly . Finally it was Keshav Maharaj who got both players out with Hermann(42) caught in the deep and Abell (55) bowled  . This brought Stubbs and skipper Markram together and after a slowish start both batters started to unleash brutal shots as sixes started to flow more regularly.  The DSG bowlers struggled as Markram (42)  and Stubbs (55) absolutely smashed the bowling in the slog overs  with blistering shots as Sunrisers Eastern Cape piled on a mammoth 204/3 and such big runs on the board is always beneficial for the final . Keshav Maharaj (2/33) was the best bowler for Durban Super Giants.

In reply DSC started poorly with the loss of Quinton DeKock who was bowled by Worrall for 3 . Then Marco Jansen got into the action dismissing Smutts (1) & Rajapaksha (0) to leave DSC at a precarious 7/3 from which they never really recovered in a huge chase of 200 plus . Moulder (38) tried to take the game to the opposition with a few lusty hits but once he ,  Breetze (18) and the mighty Henrich Klaasen (0) were dismissed it was all over for DSC . Pretorius (28) with some late hitting only reduced the defeat margin for the DSC as they were finally all out for 115 to lose by a heavy margin of 89 runs in a hopelessly one sided final . Marco Jansen with a brilliant spell of  5/30 was the leading bowler while Baartman and Worrall took 2 wickets each with lively fast bowling .

Tom Abell was the player of the final.
