Russell , Rutherford brutal hitting gets West Indies consolation win in a 2-1 T20I series loss to Aussies
West Indies defeated Australia by 37 runs in the third T20 International match played at Perth Cricket Stadium. Andre Russell batted ferociously in this match and played an innings of 71 runs in 29 balls. On the basis of this innings, the West Indies team scored 220 runs in the stipulated 20 overs. In reply, despite David Warner (81 runs) and Tim David (41 runs not out), Australia could reach only 183 runs after playing the entire over. Even though West Indies won the match, Australia won the series 2-1. Australia won both the initial matches.
Batting first, West Indies scored 220 runs at the loss of 6 wickets in 20 overs on the stipulated board. Powerful all-rounder Andre Russell scored an explosive 71 runs in just 29 balls, hitting 7 sixes and 4 fours. Apart from these, Sherfane Rutherford also played a brilliant innings and played an unbeaten innings of 67 runs in 40 balls. His innings included 5 fours and the same number of breathtaking sixes. 35 year old Andre Russell scored a lot of runs in the 19th over of the innings. Australia's bowlers were badly thrashed in this match. Leg spinner Adam Zampa was the most expensive. He completed his 4 overs and gave away 65 runs by taking 1 wicket. At the same time, Spencer Johnson gave away 49 runs by taking 1 wicket in 4 overs. Xavier Bartlett was the most successful. He took 2 wickets and gave 37 runs in 4 overs. Behrendorff (4 overs-31 runs) and Aaron Hardie (4 overs-36 runs) also got 1 wicket each .
In reply Australia lost Marsh (17) early . Hardie (16) too had a brief stay. It was David Warner's belligerent hitting that kept Australia in the hunt but after Warner's exit for 81 in his last international on Australia soil , the hosts had no momentum in their batting . Maxwell could not get any momentum and Tim David's 41 was not enough to take Australia home as West Indies won by 37 runs .
Warner for his brilliant batting in the series was the player of the series as Australia won the series 2-1 .
