Australia win 2nd ODI & series vs Windies banking on Abbott heroics

Under the captaincy of Steve Smith, Australia has won the ODI series against the West Indies.  Host Australia defeated West Indies by 83 runs in the second ODI of the 3-match series.  Smith, who is captaining this series in the absence of regular captain Pat Cummins, did not make much contribution with the bat in the second ODI.  Although during this period the visiting West Indies had a golden opportunity to level the series but they lost it.  Now Australia would like to clean sweep the West Indies series by winning the third and last ODI.

Windies won the toss and invited Australia (IND vs WI) to bat first.  This decision of Shai Hope was proved right by his bowlers and the hosts were restricted to 258 runs.  Australia had lost 7 wickets for 167 runs, but thanks to Sean Abbott, who came in the lower order and played a glorious innings of 69 runs in 63 balls full of breathtaking strokes , taking the team's total score beyond 250.  Matthew Short contributed a breezy  41 runs while Cameron Green was out after scoring 33 runs.  Captain Steve Smith scored 5 runs.  For the West Indies, pacer Alzarri Joseph took 2 wickets while spinner Gudakesh Moti took 3 wickets.

Chasing the target of 259 runs, the West Indies team collapsed for 175 runs in 43.3 overs.  The West Indies batsmen succumbed to the killer bowling of Sean Abbott and Josh Hazlewood.  For West Indies, Caecy Carty played an impressive  innings of 40 runs while captain and wicketkeeper Shai Hope was out after scoring 29 runs.  Roston Chase contributed 25 runs.  Alzarri Joseph returned to the pavilion after scoring 19 runs.  Hazlewood and Abbott took 3 wickets each for Australia.

Shaun Abbott was chosen Player of the Match for his all-round performance, who after showing great performance in batting, also made a splash in bowling.  After the defeat, Windies captain Shai Hope admitted that his bowlers bowled well but the batsmen disappointed.  According to Hope, their bowlers did a good job by restricting Australia to 258 runs but the batsmen did not bat as expected.
