Bedingham ton helps South Africa set up a 266 target for New Zealand in 2nd test

The second Test match being played between South Africa and New Zealand has reached a very exciting turn.  The visiting team South Africa has given a target of 267 runs to New Zealand to win this match, thanks to the first century of David Bedingham's career.  In response, New Zealand had scored 40 runs for one wicket by the end of the third day's play.  They are currently 227 runs behind the target.

New Zealand lost the wicket of Devon Conway (17) on the fifth ball of the last over of the day, who was trapped LBW by off-spinner Dane Piedt.  At the time of stumps, Tom Latham was playing on 21 runs.  Earlier, South Africa scored 235 runs in its second innings.  The highlight of this innings was a magnificent century by Bedingham who scored 110 runs.  This is the highest score of his career.  Meanwhile, Bedingham made a partnership of 98 runs with Keegan Petersen (43) for the fifth wicket. Petersen also played some crisp shots but could not convert his 40 to a big score .  Apart from these two, only captain Neil Brand (34) and Zuber Hamza (17) reached double digits.  South Africa lost its last six wickets within 33 runs.

Tall fast bowler Will O'Rourke, playing his first Test match for New Zealand, took 5 wickets for 34 runs.  In this way, he took 9 wickets for 93 runs in the Test match, which is the best performance by a bowler on his Test debut for New Zealand.  The record for achieving the biggest target on any ground in New Zealand is in the name of West Indies, which won by scoring 345 runs at Eden Park, Auckland in 1969.

New Zealand is facing the second-rate team of South Africa.  Despite this, it will not be easy for him to score the remaining 227 runs because the pitch is expected to turn on the fourth day of the match.  Piedt was getting his turn only in the evening on the third day.  Peet took 5 wickets for 89 runs in the first innings due to which New Zealand team was out for 211 runs in reply to South Africa's 242 runs. Hence an exciting 4th day awaits .
