Harmanpreet likely to be suspended from 2 knockout matches in Asian Games

It is said that the work done in anger leads to loss in some form or the other.  Sometimes to own self , sometimes to team .  The Indian women's cricket team is currently facing this loss and the reason for this is the team's captain and most senior player Harmanpreet Kaur.  Captain Harmanpreet Kaur's angry actions in the last ODI match of the Bangladesh tour may cost the team without her in the Asian Games.  The Asian Games will be held in Hangzhou, China in September-October.

During the third ODI against Bangladesh, Harmanpreet questioned the decisions of the umpires.  At first, Harmanpreet expressed anger on being given out and broke the stumps with the bat.  Then after the match, she raised questions on umpiring.  If this was not enough, she also taunted the Bangladeshi team for calling the umpires during the photo with the trophies of both the teams after the match, after which the hosts left the photo session & went back to the dressing room .

Harmanpreet Kaur is certain to be punished for such obstinate and bad-tempered behavior, which has not been announced by the ICC at present.  However, a report by Cricbuzz quoting ICC sources said that she has been found guilty in two separate cases of the Code of Conduct.  In such a situation, 75 percent of her match fee will be deducted.

The second punishment is more severe.  According to the rules, players are given demerit points for any kind of misbehavior.  Harmanpreet Kaur is expected to get 4 demerit points due to these mistakes.  If this happens, then she will have to sit out of one Test or 2 ODIs or 2 T20 matches in the upcoming series.

The Indian women's team now has to directly hit the ground in the month of September, when it will reach China for the Asian Games.  The women's cricket event in the Asian Games will start from 19 September till 28 September.  According to the rules, due to the high ranking, Team India got direct entry into the quarter-finals.  That is, if Harmanpreet is banned, then she will not be able to play the quarter final match.

If Team India reaches the semi-finals by winning this match, then the captain will be out of that match as well.  She will get a chance to play only when the team reaches the finals and compete for the gold medal.  The kind of form Harmanpreet Kaur was in for some time, her absence will cause a big loss to the Indian team.

The three-match ODI series between the women's teams of India and Bangladesh ended in a 1-1 draw.  The last match of the series was tied in an exciting finish.  The result of the match tie was that the Indian team missed out on winning the series.  Before such dismal performance of the team was discussed, all the debate revolved around captain Harmanpreet Kaur's behavior and now its effect is going to be seen further.
