T20IWC : Jordan , Buttler power England to massive win vs USA & semis berth

England had to win against America to stay in the race for the semi-finals of the current Twenty20 World Cup.  Not only did they win, they blew America by 10 wickets.  Chris Jordan is the hero with the ball.  He scored a hat trick.

Batting first, America was all out for 115 runs.  Two openers Jos Buttler and Phil Salt won by chasing that run in just 9.4 overs.  Buttler scored a half century.  As a result of this victory, England's net run rate increased a lot.  As a result, the last time world champions made it as the first team in the semi-finals of the World Cup.

England topped the group with 4 points after defeating America.  Their net run rate is 1.992.  The team that wins the final group match between South Africa and West Indies will also advance to the last four.  The host country America has left the World Cup after losing all three matches in the Super 8.

England captain Buttler won the toss and decided to bowl first.  Andris Gaus was dismissed by Richie Topley in the first over.  Steven Taylor and Nitish Kumar made a good partnership for the second wicket.  Taylor was dismissed by Sam Curren in the last over of the power play.

Adil Rashid troubled the American batsmen in the middle overs.  His leg-spin, googly was not understood by Aaron Jones.  The result is what happened.  Rashid dismissed Nitish and captain Jones.  That's where America's innings took a big hit.

Corey Anderson and Harmeet Singh pulled the team after 5 wickets.  They crossed the team's 100 runs.  It looked like America was trying to score at least 130 runs.  But in the second spell Jordan finished the American lower order.

America's sixth wicket fell after 115 runs.  Curren returns Harmeet for 21 runs.  Buttler handed the ball to Jordan in the next over.  He returned Anderson with the first ball.  Ali Khan could not bat the next ball.  That ball goes out through the side of the wicket.  Ali could not bat the third ball again.  The ball hits the wicket this time.  The fourth ball was aimed at Nashtush Kenzig's pad by Jordan.  The ball hits the pad.  Umpire gives lbw.  Kenzige could not live with the reviews.  Jordan completed the hat-trick by bowling Sourav Netravlakar on the fifth ball.

Jordan took 4 wickets with 10 runs in 2.5 overs against America.  All four wickets came in the same over.  Under his control, America was all out for 115 runs from 5 wickets.

There was an indication that England would not take much time to chase down 116 runs.  But it was not understood that they would end the game so soon.  In this World Cup, Buttler did not have many runs with the bat.  That Butler lit up in this match.  He started playing aggressive shots from the beginning.  He did not discount any pacer, spinner as he launched a fierce onslaught .  Salt regained some control after seeing Butler bat.

England scored 60 runs in 6 overs of power play.  They took only 22 balls to make the next 57 runs.  Chasing 116 runs, Butler remained unbeaten on 83 runs off 38 balls.  He hit 6 fours and 7 sixes.  Butler played the captain's innings.  Salt remained unbeaten with 25 runs off 21 balls.
