India Women win ODI series vs SA 3-0 , Smriti misses century
While the focus is more on the Indian men playing in the world cup T20I in the West Indies , the Indian women has quietly won the ODI series vs South Africa women. Having already won the series in the 2nd ODI with an unassailable series lead, India put on a clinical show in the 3rd ODI to take the series 3-0.
South African women after a fighting performance and a narrow loss in the 2nd ODI , started well with their openers , skipper Laura Wolvaardt and Tazmin Brits as they put on 102 for the first wicket before Wolvaardt was dismissed after a sublime 61 that triggered a collapse as 4 wickets fell for 18 . The visitors kept losing wickets to loose shots to waste a great start and had it not been for De Klerk (26) and Ridder (26*) they would not have reached the final score of 215 .
In reply , India started in fluent fashion with Mandana & Shafali Verma batting superbly and executing sizzling shots till Shafali fell for 25 . Priya Punia getting a chance to play for india after a long time batted impressively for 28. However it was Smriti Mandhana who stole the show with a dazzling knock of 90 that included sublime shots all round the ground . Smriti missed her 3rd consecutive 100 . Harmanpreet (42) got run out after an impressive knock while Rodrigues (19*) and Ghosh (6*) finished the game as India won by 6 wickets .
