T20IWC : Afghanistan beats Bangladesh in a thriller, creates history by reaching SF

The fight to reach the semi-finals of the T20 World Cup continued till the last match.  Afghanistan and Bangladesh had the opportunity to play on Tuesday.  The fate of Australia depended on this match.  All three teams had a chance to reach the semi-finals of the T20 World Cup.  In the end, Afghanistan beat Bangladesh by 8 runs in the semi-finals.  Australia was knocked out.

Afghanistan batted first and scored 115 runs.  Bangladesh had to score those runs in 12.1 overs to reach the semi-finals.  But Shakib Al Hasan & Co could not do that.  The game was repeatedly stopped due to rain.  The goal of Bangladesh also changed.  They needed 114 runs in 19 overs to win.  In the end, Bangladesh lost by 8 runs.

Afghanistan lost against India in the Super 8 but won against Australia and Bangladesh.  Rashid's team reached the semi-finals of T20 World Cup with four points.  They have to play against South Africa.

At one point in the rain-hit match, it looked like Bangladesh would reach the semi-finals.  Liton Das was making quick runs.  But Bangladesh slowed down after the fifth wicket fell.  At that time, they seemed to have forgotten that they have a chance to reach the semi-finals if they win in 12.1 overs.  Rashid and Noor Ahmed should also be credited for that.  The Bangladeshi batters were having trouble understanding their spin.

Fazal Haq Farooqui and Naveen Ul Haque started the wicket-taking spree.  Bangladesh lost 3 wickets out of 23 runs.  Rashid showed power in the middle overs.  He took 4 wickets with 23 runs in 4 overs.  On the other hand, Noor did not get a wicket but gave away only 13 runs in 4 overs.  Bangladesh was in trouble because of that.  The failure of the middle order is definitely behind their loss.

Liton also has to take responsibility as he failed to manipulate the strike     Many a time, Liton, who scored a half-century, allowed the team's bowlers to bat with a single on the first ball of the over.  Bangladesh might have won if he tried to play more balls and took the game on himself

The man of the match award was given to Naveen.  He took 4 wickets with 26 runs.  However, Rashid was also deserving of the man of the match award in this match against Bangladesh.  He took 4 wickets with 23 runs.  Stopped runs at important times.  It should not be forgotten that Rashid hit three sixes with the bat.  Those three sixes in his 10-ball innings gave the team a fighting chance.  If Rashid did not score those runs, his country could have lost.

Afghanistan will play against South Africa in the T20 World Cup semi-final.  The semi-final will be held on the morning of June 27.  India and England will play in the second semi-final on the same day night.  Final on June 29.
