T20IWC : India outplayed Afghanistan by 47 runs , Surya shines bright

 


India moves one step closure to the semi final with a big win over Afghanisan . Batting first  india overcame a shaky start to get 180 but Afghanistan kept losing  wickets and finally   ended at 



India started poorly with Rohit (8) getting out early , Pant came out and batted with enterprise but was lbw against the run of play on 20 off 11 balls. 


Kohli struggled to time his shots on this sluggish pitch . He did hit a 6 but soon was out for 24 caught at long off of Rashid .


Finally it fell upon Surya Kumar Yadav to provide the impetus and he played an outrageous innings full of stunning  strikes.  Surya was finally   caught off a skier for 53 off 28 balls. 


Dube (10) was out cheaply again but Hardik Pandya (32) batted superbly to add vital quick runs as India reached 181 in 20 overs . For Afghanistan  Farooqui and Rashid took 3 wickets each .



In reply Afghanistan after a quick start in the first over by Gurbaz  , started losing wickets at regular intervals . No Afghan batter could stand strong against a lethal Indian bowling attack . Bumrah caused the early damage in his brilliant spell of 3/7. 3 wickets for Arshadeep too while the spinners ripped through the middle order . Omerzai top scored with 26 for Afghanistan in a mediocre batting prformance . India won by 47 runs in a clinical performance and Surya Kumar Yadav was the player of the match for his exceptional batting on a tough pitch

Olympics24 : Ten men India edge out Britain in tie breaker to storm into hockey SF

  India reached the Olympic hockey semifinals by defeating Britain in a shootout. The match ended 1-1 in regulation time, leading to a shootout where India won 4-2. India played with ten players for 42 minutes to secure the victory. In the semifinals, India will face the winner of the Germany-Argentina match. A win in Tuesday's match will ensure a silver medal for last time's bronze winners at the Paris Olympics. Following the advice of video umpire , Indian defender Amit Rohidas was shown a red card in the fourth minute of the second quarter for unintentional stick contact with a British player’s head. Video umpire Goyentzen suggested it was intentional, and South African field umpire Sean Rapaport recommended a red card, resulting in India playing the rest of the match with ten players.
