T20IWC : Bangladesh topple Sri Lanka in low scoring contest

Bangladesh started T20 World Cup by winning against Sri Lanka.  Batting first, Sri Lanka scored only 125 runs.  They could not score more runs under the influence of Mustafizur.  Bangladesh took 19 overs to get that target.  & won by 2 wickets.

At first it was thought that Bangladesh will win the match very easily.  But despite restricting Sri Lanka to 125 runs, they lost wickets in the beginning and fell under pressure.  Before the start of T20 World Cup, Bangladesh was thinking about batting.  Even on Saturday morning, two openers Tanjid Hasan and Soumya Sarkar did not get runs.  Captain Nazmul Hasan scored only 7 runs.  But Liton Das and Tohid Hriday gave the team confidence.  They added a 63 runs partnership. Hriday showed his talent with a belligerent 20 ball 40 that helped Bangladesh to win .

Batting first, Sri Lanka scored 125 runs.  Opener Pathum Nishank scored 47 runs and was looking really good but threw his wicket.  Dhananjay de Silva scored 21 runs.  The rest of the batters failed to put on a sizable score .  Mustafizur Rahman and Rishad Hossain took three wickets each.  Taskin Ahmed took 2 wickets.

Bangladesh played with a target of 126 runs but had to play till 19 overs.  They lost one wicket after another.  Shakib scored 8 runs off 14 balls.  Mahmudullah survived to the end and his cool temperament won the match .

It would have been difficult for Bangladesh to win on Saturday if Rishad couldn't keep Sri Lanka to a low score.  The Sri Lankan bowlers brought the team back into the match.  Bangladesh lost 2 wickets for 6 runs.  The third wicket went for 28 runs.  After this Litton (36) and Hriday (40) took the lead for Bangladesh.  But they could not leave the field winning the match.  Bangladesh lost 5 wickets for 99 runs at one stage.  After that, they lost one wicket after another.  Sri Lankan pacer Nuwan Thusara took 4 wickets.  In the end Mahmudullah (16*) won the match for Bangladesh.
