T20IWC : Akeal Hosein bundles out Uganda as West Indies script huge win
West Indies created history in a match of Group C of T20 World Cup 2024. It not only bundled out Uganda for the lowest score of 39 runs in T20 World Cup history, but also defeated them by a huge margin of 134 runs. This is the biggest win of T20 World Cup 2024, while it is the second biggest win in history. In 2007, Sri Lanka defeated Kenya by 172 runs. After that, this is the first time that a team has defeated a team by a margin of more than 130 runs. West Indies, batting first, scored 173 runs for 5 wickets, while Uganda collapsed for just 39 runs in front of the deadly bowling of Akil Hussain (11/5).
West Indies won the toss and came out to bat first and started piling up runs from the first ball at Providence Stadium in Guyana. Uganda's inexperienced bowlers hit hard. However, during this time its wickets also fell, but it did not make much difference. Brandon King (8 balls, 13 runs) and Johnson Charles (44 runs in 42 balls) scored 41 runs for the first wicket in 4.3 overs. After this, Pooran scored 22 runs in 17 balls, captain Rovman Powell scored 23 runs in 18 balls, S. Rutherford scored 22 runs in 16 balls, while Andre Russell scored an unbeaten 30 runs in 17 balls.
Uganda had no answer to the West Indies bowling & Akeal Hosein (5/11) completely baffled them with his guile to lead West Indies to a huge win as Uganda wickets fell like nine pins with no resistance .
