Euro24: Germany score twice vs Hungary to book spot in next round

Germany secured their spot in the round of 16 at Euro 2024 with a decisive 2-0 victory over Hungary in Stuttgart. Germans knew that a win would make them the first to advance to the knockout stages, and they delivered.

Goals from Jamal Musiala and Ilkay Gundogan helped Germany overcome Marco Rossi's side, although the match proved more difficult than expected.

The first goal occurred when Hungary's goalkeeper, Peter Gulacsi, dived at Gundogan's feet but failed to control the ball. Instead, he inadvertently pushed it to Gundogan, who then passed it to Musiala. The Bayern Munich player easily scored through several Hungarian defenders.

Hungary responded well and nearly equalized when Rolland Sallai's cross found Bernabas Varga. However, Varga's header sailed over the crossbar, missing Hungary's best opportunity.

Germany's second goal resulted from a smooth play involving Musiala, Mittelstadt, and Gundogan. The Barcelona midfielder finished unmarked in the box, extinguishing Hungary's hopes.

With this win, Germany advances, while Hungary still has a chance to qualify for the round of 16 if they defeat Scotland in their final group stage match on Sunday.
