Chat GPT : groundbreaking new chatting features to be introduced

OpenAI, the company behind ChatGPT and future versions of Siri, is introducing a groundbreaking feature to the ChatGPT mobile app. Just ahead of the release of GPT-4o Voice, the company has unveiled “Background Conversations,” which lets you interact with the AI chatbot while using other apps.

This feature is turned off by default but can be easily enabled. To activate it, open the ChatGPT app on your device and tap the two-line icon at the top left. Then, tap the three-dot button at the bottom. On the next screen, scroll down to find the “Background Conversations” option and turn it on. This will allow you to converse with ChatGPT even when your screen is off.

Currently, ChatGPT converts your speech into text, provides a text reply, and then reads the text aloud. With GPT-4o Voice, interactions will be faster as the model will understand and respond to speech directly. Moreover, unlike the current version that requires screen taps to interrupt the chatbot, GPT-4o will let you use voice commands to stop it.

While some might not find it useful to chat with an AI chatbot while multitasking, there are practical applications. For example, you can ask ChatGPT questions while working on a document or get translation assistance while using a navigation app during travel.
