T20IWC : Australia script clinical win over England with a great team effort

The bowlers have been showing dominance since the beginning of the current World Cup.  Where teams are having trouble scoring 140 runs, Australia batted first and scored 201 runs.  Australia's batters showed power in the bowlers' World Cup.  But England's batsmen could not show it.  As a result, they had to lose to Australia by 36 runs.  England got 1 point as the first match against Scotland was washed out by rain.  They also lost points against Australia.  As a result, the  reigning world champion England is under pressure after two matches.

England captain Jos Buttler won the toss and decided to bowl first.  He might have thought that he would take advantage of the way the bowlers are showing power in the current World Cup.  But that didn't happen.  Australia's two openers Travis Head and David Warner started playing big shots from the first over.  England's bowlers gave them a little advantage.  Mark Wood, Chris Jordan leaked runs .  The batters took advantage of it.

The boundary on one side of the Barbados field was 74 meters.  The boundary on the other side is 58 meters.  The two batsmen Head and Warner  were hitting big shots using small boundaries.  The ball went out of boundary three times during the power play.  Australia plundered 70 runs in the first five overs using the power play with both Head and Warner playing blistering shots .  Moeen Ali gave them the first blow.  Warner was bowled after  a dazzling  39 runs off 16 balls.  In the next over, Jofra Archer bowled Head for an explosive 34 off 18 balls.  Australia scored 74 runs after losing 2 wickets in the power play.

Despite the dismissal of two openers, Australia's run rate did not slow down.  Mitchell Marsh and Glenn Maxwell also tied the knot. While they were consolidating , big shots were coming every over.  Pacers and spinners were leaking runs.  Maxwell was dismissed for 28 runs.  Captain Marsh scored 35 runs.

Marcus Stoinis (30) was also  scoring fast at number five.  But after the first 10 overs, England's bowlers could understand the pitch somewhat.  Pacers manipulate the speed of the ball.  Liam Livingstone's spin was troubling the batsmen.  As a result, Australia's run rate has decreased slightly.  At one time it seemed that they would score 220-230 runs.  In the end, Australia scored 201 runs after losing 7 wickets in 20 overs.  This is Australia's highest runs in T20 World Cup.  This is the first time a team scored more than 200 runs in the current World Cup.

Chasing 202 runs, England's two openers Phil Salt and Buttler started well.  Both were in good form in the IPL & were batting like that.  Every over was getting more than 10 runs.  Australia could not take any wicket in the power play.  Mitchell Starc bowled well in the first spell but conceded 19 runs in the first over after the power play.

Captain Marsh gave the ball to Adam Zampa in the eighth over.  That's where the game turned.  Zampa brought Australia back into the game by bowling Salt on the first ball.  Salt of KKR returned with 37 runs off 23 balls.  Zampa gave England a second shock.  He returned Butler for 42 runs.

After the dismissal of the opening pair, England's run rate slowed down.  Australia's bowlers were manipulating the pace.  As a result, the batters were having problems.  Will Jacks (10), Jonny Bairstow (7) went cheaply .  Moeen hit some big shots but was dismissed by Pat Cummins for 25 runs.

The urgent run-rate kept increasing as the wickets fell.  It was understood that Australia is gradually taking possession of the match.  The mistakes England's bowlers made, Cummins & Co didn't.

England needed 72 runs off the last 24 balls.  Despite having batsmen like Livingstone and Harry Brook at the crease, England could not chase it.  In the end they scored 165 runs for 6 wickets in 20 overs.  Australia beat England by 36 runs and advanced a lot on the way to the quarter finals. Zampa for his 2/28 in 4 overs was adjudged the player of the match .
