T20IWC : Bangladesh beat Netherlands in a tight game , England crush Oman


 

Bangladesh  beat Netherlands by 25 runs to virtually qualify for the super eight stage . Put in to bat Bangladesh scored  159 /5 in 20 overs and then got wickets at the right time to end the Dutch challenge as Netherlands could score 134/8 in their chase after looking in control  durung the mid innings. 


Bangladesh innings started with cheap losses of Shanto (1) and Litton (1) but Tanzid (35) played a sparkling knock . The mid innings was held together by Shakib who after a long time played an innings of substance , playing some glorious shots in this 64 not out . Mahmudullah (25) and Jakir (14) played quick cameos to take Bangladesh to close to 160.


The Dutch started steadily but positive strokeplay from Vikramjit (26) , Engelbrecht (33) and Scott Edwards (25) put Netherlands in a good position to chase down 160 but Bangladesh hit back with regular wickets at the backend with Rishad Hossain with 3 wickets being the chief wreaker and well supported by others Tuskin , Mahmudullah, Tanzim and a highly economical Mustafizur.  Shakib for his 64 was the player of the match.




Meanwhile England clinically blew away Oman in their latest group game to enhance their hopes of qualifying to the super 8s . Their fast bowlers Jofra Archer and Mark Wood were too hot to handle for the rookie Onan batters as they lost wickets like nine pins . Both Wood and Archer took 3 wickets each and  Later player of the match  Adil Rashid produced all his tricks to finish off with 4 wickets as Oman crashed to 47 all out  with only one player reaching double figures .


England batters wiped off the target of 48 in just 3.1 overs with Buttler 24 not out & Salt scoring 12 in 3 balls before getting bowled followed by Jacks dismissal . Bairstow remained 8 not out as England won by 8 wickets in a quick end .
