Euro24 : Italy overcomes early shock to start their title defence with a win

No one in Italy could believe it, not even Federico DiMarco.  Of course, the thousands of visitors to the gallery were able to understand?  By that time, many people could not even sit in their chairs properly

22 seconds.  Only 22 seconds.  Albania's Nedim Bayrami took only this time to send the ball into Italy's net in Dortmund on Saturday!  DeMarco threw from the sideline to a teammate in his own box.  Bayrami took control of that ball & smacked his shot through the near post into the net .  History was made.  The Albanian forward scored the fastest goal of the competition since 1960 (Euro Cup 2024) & he  happens to play for Italian club Sassuolo.

However, coach Luciano Spalletti's students did not take special time to deal with the shock of the fastest goal.  Italy defender Alessandro Bastoni equalized in the 11th minute by heading the ball from Lorenzo Pellegrini into the goal with a long shot.  Within five minutes, the Azzurri went ahead.  Nicolo Barella scored this time.  He sent the ball to the goal after getting the ball through the tangle.  Coincidentally, DiMarco, Bastoni and Barella all played for Inter Milan.  However, the victory against Albania was confirmed by Italy in the 33rd minute of the match.  David Frattesi's shot missed the post.  In the end adter a barren 2nd half, Italy won the match 2-1.

Despite winning, the way Italy had to be stuck in front of the weak Albanian defense will worry Azzurri coach Spalletti.  However, the Azzurri coach will also breathe a sigh of relief after avoiding the possibility of an accident in a difficult group.
