Real Madrid scripts 15th Champions league title with 2-0 win over Dortmund

Most times Champions League winner (Champions League) club?  Real Madrid.  The coach who won the most Champions League?  Carlo Ancelotti.  The answers were the same before Saturday night.  But after Saturday night, the gap with the second placers widened.

The reason?  Because coach Carlo's Real has won another Champions League trophy.  On this day at Wembley Stadium, Borussia Dortmund lost to Real Madrid 2-0.  Real won their 15th title in the competition's history thanks to goals from Dani Carvahal and Vinicius Junior.  On this day, Toni Kroos retired from club football.  But he was the hero in the farewell match.  In the 74th minute, Carvahal scored the 1st goal for Real from his arranged pass.

Before that, Dortmund goalkeeper Gregor Kobel, who saved a brilliant free-kick from Kroos, somehow threw his body and sent the ball out.   Vinicius ended the match within ten minutes of the first goal.  Judd Bellingham received the ball right foot first.  Then the Brazilian winger ended Dortmund's dream of winning the Champions League after 27 years with a left-footed shot.  The win saw Cruz, Carvahal, Luka Modric and Nacho Fernandez join Real Madrid legend Paco Gento for the most European club football titles.  Everyone won 6 trophies!

On this day, however, Real got the help of fate too.  Dortmund who were the better team in the first half , had a golden opportunity to go ahead in the 23rd minute.  But Niklas Futkrug's shot hit the post.  Again, this German forward's goal was ruled out for offside. Also a freekick was brilliantly saved by the Real's Belgian worldcupper goalkeeper .  Of course, luck also favors champions.  And who is a bigger champion than Real Madrid, even in the Champions League?
