EURO24 : Hosts Germany started in style by thumping Scotland 5-1 in opener

Germany started their Euro Cup campaign by easily defeating Scotland on home soil.  They won 5-1 in Munich on Friday in a thimping victory .  Three of these goals were scored in the first half.  Three young footballers scored for Germany.  As an opponent, Scotland was not too bad, but they could not stand up to Germany.  Goals for Germany by Florian Wirtz, Jamal Musiala, Kai Havertz, Niklas Fulkrug and Emre Can.  Antonio Rudiger's own goal at the end of the match.

From the first minute of the game, the host nation dominated Scotland.  Attacking from midfield with pace , Germany continued to display perfect football in every department.  The first goal was scored in ten minutes.  Toni Kroos made a perfect pass from midfield to Joshua Kimmich on the right.  Kimikh passes in between.  Florian Wirtz ran and took a shot on the ball.  Scotland goalkeeper Angus Gunn got the ball into the goal off the post.

The second goal came in 19 minutes.  This time Ilkay Gundwan passed to Kai Havertz from midfield.  Havertz found the goalkeeper alone in front, but the defenders arrived a little too late.  He wisely passed to Jamal Musiala.  Musiala scored with a low rasping shot.

Five minutes later, the referee awarded Germany a penalty.  Musiala was dropped by Ryan Christie and Kieran Tierney.  But after a discussion with the video assistant referee (VAR), the referee gave it a free kick.  Havertz's shot from the free kick was narrowly saved by the Scottish goalkeeper.

However, Scotland could not return to the game.  On the contrary, as time passed, the power of Germany was increasing.  That's why they scored the third goal before the break.  Gundowan headed in Musiala's cross.  Ryan Porteous tackled the German captain before taking a shot at the return ball after the opposition goalkeeper saved.  The referee did not award a penalty at first.  But after discussion with VAR gave penalty.  Also show the red card to Portius.  Havertz scored from the penalty.

The picture did not change in the second half.  As Germany's power grew, Scotland of ten was becoming more and more cornered.  Every German attack created a chance to score.  Somehow Scotland was holding off the attack.  That resistance was broken in 68 minutes.  Gundwan could not catch Musiala's pass.  Nikolas Fulkrug, who had just entered the field, scored after snatching the ball from the opponent's feet.

A few minutes later the ball was in the net again.  But it was cancelled due to offside.  At the end, while clearing a ball, Germany's Rudiger put it into his own goal.  Chan scored with a curling shot from outside the box seconds before the end of the match as Germany won 5-1.
