- Pataudi hailed from a royal family; his father was the eighth Nawab of Pataudi.

- Pataudi made his Test debut for India at the age of 21 against England in 1961.

- Known for his exceptional skills, he became the youngest captain of the Indian cricket team at the age of 21 in 1962.

- He captained the Indian team in 40 of the 46 Test matches he played.

- Pataudi was known for his aggressive and innovative captaincy, leading India to its first overseas Test series victory against New Zealand in 1968.

- Despite losing the sight in one eye due to a car accident in 1961, he continued to play cricket at the highest level.

- Pataudi scored 2793 runs in 46 Test matches at an average of 34.91, including six centuries.
