The round of 16 of Australian open 2024 is in progress and reigning mens champion Novak Djokovic played a near flawless tennis to annihilate A Mannarino  6-0, 6-0, 6-3  to storm into the quarters . Djokovic was flawless and did not give Mannarino a sniff in the first 2 sets except in the opening game of the match . The French finally got into the scoresheet after a good more than 1 hour but Djokovic was in cruise control & finally won in 3 sets . He will meet Taylor Fritz who played a gruelling match to edge out Stefanos Tsitipas . The 1st set went  till the tie breaker which Fritz won 7-3 . However the Greek bounced back by winning the second set 7-5 . However the American retained back his poise to outplay the 2023 runner up 6-3 , 6-3 in the next 2 sets to seal his quarter finals spot .

Jannik Sinner continued his hot form since the end of 2023 with a straight set win over Karen Khachanov  6-4 , 7-5 , 6-3  . Sinner looks in great touch and is a great contender this year.

Andrei Rublev , however had to endure a 5 setter to edge out de Minaur.  After winning set one 6-4 , Rublev had to digest two close tie breaker losses 7-5 , 7-4 to trail by 1-2 . However he regathered his poise and shifted a gear to win the final two sets in style  6-3 , 6-0 to set up a date with Sinner for the quarter final.

In the women's draw , Coco Gauff and Arnya Sabalenka breezed through their matches to reach the quarter finals . The two other players who reached the last 8 are Krejčíková & Kostyuk.
