23 wickets fall in a wild day of test ckt in Ind v SA Cape Town test
The second test between South Africa and India is off to a rousing start with 23 wickets falling in a wild day of test cricket. South Africa won the toss and batted first only to be skittled out for 55 and in reply India were piling on the runs at 153/4 only to lose 6 wickets for no runs and got all out at 153 . At close the hosts has lost 3 wickets already with only 62 on board and trailing by 36 with a potential 2 day finish on the cards .
Batting first the hosts lost Markram (2) early caught superbly by Jaiswal at slip off Siraj . Soon Elgar playing his final test and leading the team played on to Siraj for 4 . Zorzi (2) was out to a leg side catch off Siraj while Stubbs (3) was caught at short leg by Rohit off Bumrah. Siraj then proceeded to get Bedingham (12) and Verreyene (15) in quick succession and got Jansen (0) to a leg cutter . Then Mukesh Kumar with 2 wickets wiped off the tail and Bumrah got the last wicket as South Africa were blown away for a paltry 55 runs . Siraj was the hero with 6/15 as he totally dismantled the top order .
India lost Jaiswal (0) early as he played on to Rabada but Rohit Sharma launched a counter attack as he drove and pulled to get 39 after which he was dismissed to a slip chance off Burger . Gill looked in sparkling touch too but at 36 he was brilliantly caught by Jansen off Burger who proceeded to get Iyer (0) caught behind.
Virat Kohli was playing aggressively and was taking calculated risks . He hit some fine drives as well as a few uppish ones and also hit a rare cut shot and a pull to rattle along to 46 before he poked at Rabada to be caught in the slips . However before his dismissal , India lost Rahul (8) caught behind off Ngidi and in the same over Jadeja and Bumrah were caught by Jansen for 0 each . In the next over itself Rabada gets Kohli, gets Siraj (0) run out and finally dismissed Prasidh as India suffered a sensational collapse from 153/4 to 153 all not thus losing 6/0. For the hosts , Burger, Rabada and Ngidi each took 3 wickets .
In the second innings South Africa started well but at 37 lost Elgar caught in the slips by Kohli off Mukesh for 12 in his final test innings. Little did Elgar knew that he will get dismissed twice on the same day in a test . Soon Zorji (1) was caught by Rahul off Mukesh while Stubbs got an unplayable ball from Bumrah to be caught behind for 1 as South Africa limped to 62/3 at close , till 36 behind with a 2nd day finish looming large
