Australia wrap up test series vs Pak 3-0, fitting farewell for Warner
Pakistan has suffered 17th consecutive test defeat in Australia. The team has lost the 3-match test series 0-3. In the third and last Test match of the series played in Sydney, Australia defeated Pakistan by 8 wickets and wiped out Pakistan in the series 3-0. Pakistan's batsmen played an important role in this condition in the new year, who were seen surrendering easily to the Australian fast bowlers. This is Pakistan's 17th consecutive defeat in Australia. Before this, Pakistan team last won a Test match in Australia in 1995.
The Australian team came out to chase the target of 130 runs set by Pakistan at the Sydney Cricket Ground. David Warner, who was playing his last test match, scored a brilliant 57 attacking the bowlers and Marnus Labuschagne was unbeaten having played a fluent knock . Aussies won the match on the basis of 8 wickets . The Australian team, which came to chase the target, did not have a good start and lost the wicket of opener Usman Khawaja lbw on the last ball of the first over. Sajid Khan did not even allow Usman to open an account. After this, David Warner and Labuschagne took charge of Australia and together they made a partnership of 119 runs for the second wicket by playing attacking cricket , leading the team to victory. Warner hit 7 fours in 75 balls. Labuschagne hit 9 fours in 73 balls while Steve Smith returned unbeaten after scoring 4 runs.
Earlier starting at 68/7 Pakistan did provide some lower order resistance with Rizwan (28) and Jamal (18) but once Rizwan was caught down leg side by Warner off Lyon , Pakistan resistance fell apart ad last 3 wickets fell for just 6 runs as the tourists folded up for 115. Hazlewood and Lyon took 4 and 3 wickets respectively.
Amir Jamal for his all round show was the player of the match while Pat Cummins (19 wickets) pipped Mitch Marsh (344 runs) to get the player of the series award as Australia won the series .
Pakistan did have their moments in the series where they were in ascendency in both the last two tests but Australia raised their levels when under the pump and also Pakistan dropped too many easy catches to lose their initiative time and again .
David Warner end the SCG test with a fitting farewell in front of his home crowd scoring 34 and 57 in the match and helped Australia in the winning cause .
