Head , Hazlewood powers Australia to 10 wkt win over West Indies in 1st test

Australia cricket team has registered another big victory against West Indies.  In the first match of the two-match Test series, the host team easily achieved the easy target of 26 runs in the first session of the third day without losing any wicket.  The West Indies team was bundled out for just 188 runs in the first innings of the Adelaide Test, while in the second innings the entire team collapsed for just 120 runs.  Australia had taken a lead of 95 runs by scoring 283 runs in the first innings.

Australia's team made a strong start in the two-match Test series against West Indies.  Finishing the first match in just three days, they achieved a big victory by 10 wickets.  West Indies batting looked extremely mediocre in both innings and they could not back up the lion hearted performance of their own bowlers .

Australian captain Pat Cummins won the toss and decided to bowl first in the Adelaide Test.  Captain Cummins, along with Jos Hazlewood, broke the back of the visiting team's batting in the first innings.  Both of them took 4 wickets each bowling relentlessly on the off stump channel   and the West Indies team collapsed on the score of just 188 runs being unable to handle the Aussie quicks .Only Kirk McKenzie scored a stubborn 50 runs and batted well. Also debutant Shemar Joseph scored a fine 36 in the lower order .

Shemar Joseph, who was making his Test debut for the West Indies team, bowled brilliantly in the first innings against Australia and took 5 wickets.  This bowler, who made Steve Smith the first victim, created an opportunity for the West Indies team and played an important role in bowling out the host team before 300 runs.

Aussie batters struggled with Smith (12)  Labuschagne (10) & Marsh (5)  getting out cheaply . Khawaja (45) batted stubbornly but Australia slumped to 129/5 before Travis Head came to the rescue .

Travis Head once again played a magnificent innings and scored a century on a pitch where the ball seamed around all day and the Windies quicks bowled very well.   Thanks to Head innings of 119 , the Aussies reached 283 runs and gained a big lead of 95 runs. Lyon scored a useful 24 runs . Shemar Joseph bowled with pace to get 5 wickets .Another debutant Greeaves bowled well too to get 2 wickets and veteran Kemar Roach took 2 wickets as well .

Josh Hazlewood also shone in the second innings, taking 5 wickets for just 35 runs again bowling accurate off stump line to relentlessly pressurise the batters .  This bowler, who took 4 wickets in the first innings, forced the West Indies team to surrender at 120 as no one could get a big score .  Australia had a target of 26 runs to win, which the team easily achieved and took a 1-0 lead in the series.

Travis Head edged out Hazlewood to get the player of the match award. The 2nd test will be played at the Gabba with pink ball and unless West Indies drastically improve their batting it is expected to be another one sided test and series .
