India scripts world record win in 2 days over South Africa despite valiant Markram 100

 


Team India registered a spectacular victory in the second test match between India and South Africa.  With this, Team India created history on the ground of Cape Town after 30 years.  In fact, in 30 years, the Indian team has registered its first victory in the Test on the grounds of Cape Town.  With victory, India ended the series at 1-1.  Mohammad Siraj and Jasprit Bumrah bowled amazingly in the match.  India had a target of 79 runs to win, which the team easily achieved on the basis of its aggressive game.


 Jaiswal played a blazing knock of 28 before getting caught off a pull shot off Burger. Gill (10) was bowled by Rabada and Kohli (12) was caught behind off Jansen but Rohit (16*) ensured no further alarms as India won by 7 wickets in style . 



 India defeated host South Africa in just 2 days and achieved a 1-1 draw in the two-match series.  After winning the toss, Dean Elgar decided to bat first.  Mohammad Siraj took 6 wickets for just 15 runs and the entire home team was limited to the score of 55 runs.  The performance of Team India's batsmen in the first innings was also not good.  The entire team together could score only 153 runs.  Apart from Rohit Sharma, Shubman Gill and Virat Kohli, no batsman could reach double digits . 


 In the second innings, Jasprit Bumrah wreaked havoc on South Africa and ended the team's hopes of a big score by taking 6 wickets.  At one end, experienced opener Aiden Markram stood firm and played a brilliant knock singlehandedly .  Even after his innings, South Africa was able to set a target of only 79 runs for India.  Apart from Markram, no other player could play a big innings for South Africa.  Jasprit Bumrah's magic was seen in the second innings.  Bumrah took a total of 6 wickets in the second innings.  He took the wickets of Tristan Stubbs (1) caught behind  , David Bedingham (11) caught behind trying to drive , Kyle Verreyene (9) skied a pull , Marco Jansen (11) caught and bowled  and Keshav Maharaj (3) caught at square leg .  Apart from Bumrah, Mukesh Kumar dismissed Tony De Georgi and Dean Elgar. Prasidh dismissed Rabada (2) and it was finally Siraj who dismissed Markram for 106 caught off a mistimed pull after Markram played an imperious knock full of dazzling shots to score  a glorious 106 . 


 Markram completed his 7th Test century in 99 balls.  Aiden Markram has become the sixth South African batsman to score the fastest century in Tests.  Earlier, AB de Villiers had scored a century against India in 75 balls in Centurion in 2020.


 

 The Indian team has won the first Test in Cape Town in 30 years.  Before this, a total of 6 matches were held in Cape Town.  In which India had lost 4 and drawn 2.  India played its first Test in Cape Town in 1993.  The fourth test in the four-match test series was a draw.  After this, in 2011 also the third test draw was held in Cape Town.  On this ground, the Indian team defeated South Africa in a test for the first time.


Jasprit Bumrah after taking 12 wickets in the series was adjudged the player of the series from Insian side while Siraj after his first innings 6 wickets was the player of the match . South African Dean Elgar with 201 runs at 67 average is adjudged the South African player of the series 


This test has also achieved a world record of finishing in shortest possible time in terms of least number of overs which is 107 .  The pitch was totally a fast bowlers paradise but with such a quick end ti the test it remains to be seen what verdict ICC gives this pitch.
