Rizwan, Jamal's gritty fightback helps Pakistan to reach 313 from 96/5 on day 1 of 3rd test vs Aus
On the wicket where stalwarts like Babar Azam struggled , tailender batsman Aamir Jamal did wonders. Aamir Jamal, who came to bat at number 9, played an explosive innings and got Pakistan out of trouble. Along with the Australian pace trio, he also took apart off-spinner Nathan Lyon. On the first day of the third Test match at the Sydney Cricket Ground, Pakistan scored 313 runs in its first innings against Australia. Wicketkeepers Mohammad Rizwan, Agha Salman and Aamir Jamal played important roles in taking Pakistan to this score. This is Pakistan's biggest score in the 3-match Test series on the current Australia tour.
At one time, Australia had sent half the Pakistan team to the pavilion with a total score of 96. After this, Aamir Zaman took over the innings after wicketkeeper Mohammad Rizwan and Agha Salman. Of course Rizwan and Jamal missed their centuries but they put Pakistan in a decent position. Aamir Jamal was out as the last wicket. Aamir Jamal, playing his debut series, played a brilliant innings of 82 runs in 97 balls with the help of 9 fours and 4 sixes.
Rizwan scored a breathtaking 88 runs on 103 balls with the help of 10 fours and 2 sixes while Agha Salman contributed 53 runs on 67 balls as they both rescued Pakistan from a precarious position . Captain Shan Masood was out after scoring 35 runs and was caught in the slips off Marsh while Babar Azam scored 26 runs and was adjudged lbw to Cummins .
Rizwan and captain Shan Masood made a partnership of 49 runs while Rizwan along with Agha Salman added 94 runs in an exciting rescue act . Aamir Jamal along with Mir Hamza effected a sensational partnership of 86 runs for the last wicket and took Pakistan's score to 300. For Australia, Pat Cummins took the maximum of 5 wickets while Mitchell Starc took two wickets. Cummins had earlier taken a total of 10 wickets in the second test match of the series.
Both Pakistan's openers Sam Ayub and Abdullah Shafique were out on personal scores of zero. Debutant Sam was caught by fast bowler Josh Hazlewood on the second ball of his first over by wicketkeeper Alex Carey. Sam could not even open the account while Shafique was caught by Steve Smith on the second ball of the first over of the match by Mitchell Starc. Sam Ayub was fielded in the opening in place of Imam Ul Haq but he flopped in the first innings. Sam is a rising young opener of Pakistan.
