Aussie women hammer India in 3rd ODI & win series 3-0 , Litchfield shines

 



India women  lost the one-day series to Australia's women's team by 0-3.  India also suffered a humiliating loss in the third one-dayer match.  Australia women won by a whopping margin of  190 runs on Tuesday.  Batting first, Australia scored 338 for 7 wickets.  In reply, the Indian women's innings ended on a shocking  148 runs in 32.4 overs.


 The Australians played cricket from the start in Wankhede's 22 yards.  Australia's opener Phoebe Litchfield scored a wonderful century.  She played a sparkling  innings of 119 runs off 125 balls with the help of 16 fours and 1 six in Wankhede's 22 yards.  Captain Alyssa Healy made a dazzling  82 off 85 balls.  4 fours and 3 sixes came from her bat.  They scored 189 runs in the first wicket partnership.  This is the highest run-scoring opening pair against India in ODI cricket.  Australia's other batsmen did not get big runs in trying to hammer the Indian bowling . Perry's (16) aggressive knock was cut short. Normally consistent  Mooney (3) and McGrath (0) fell cheaply.  Gardner (30)  , Sutherland (23) scored quickly and then Alana King smashed a 14 ball 26 to take Australia to a massive 338 /7.


 None of the bowlers of the Indian women's cricket team could take advantage of them.  Renuka Singh, Pooja Vastrakar, Deepti Sharma got hammered by Litchfield and Healy.  India's most successful bowler Shreyanka Patel took 3 wickets for 57 runs and bowled really well .  Amanjot Kaur took 2 wickets for 70 runs.



 The Indian team collapsed in front of a target of 339 runs to win.    Opener and vice-captain Smriti Mandhana scored the highest runs for the team.  She scored 29 runs off 29 balls while Yastika (6) was out cheaply  .   Mandhana hits 5 fours.  Apart from this, Jemaima Rodrigues scored 25, Deepti Aparajit 25, Richa Ghosh 19, and Vastrakar scored 14 runs.  Captain Harmanpreet (3) failed dismally again in this series .


 Georgia Wareham bowled well for the visitors. She took 3 wickets for 23 runs.  Megan Shutt, Alana King and Annabelle Sutherland took 2 wickets each.


Phoebe Litchfield  was the player of the match and the player of the series for scoring 249 in the ODI series .


The two teams will now lock horns in the T20I series  on 5, 7 & 9 January 2024
