Finn Allen powers New Zealand to 21 run win over Pakistan for 2-0 T20I series lead

 


The second match of the 5-match T20 series between Pakistan and New Zealand was played in Hamilton.  Pakistan captain Shaheen Afridi won the toss and decided to bowl.  Thanks to Finn Allen's explosive innings, New Zealand, batting first, scored 194 runs for 8 wickets.  Chasing the target, the Pakistan team could reach only 173 runs.  With the 21-run victory, the host team took a 2-0 lead in the series.


 Pakistan captain Shaheen Shah Afridi had won the toss in this match and decided to bowl first which proved tough for him.  When the New Zealand team came out to bat, Finn Allen and Devon Conway gave a great start to the team.  Conway (20) could not stay on the crease for long but Allen played a brilliant explosive innings of 74 runs in just 41 balls with 7 fours and 5 huge sixes as he plundered runs at will .  Apart from this, Kane Williamson scored 26 runs and then had to retire hurt due to cramps , Daryl Mitchell scored 17 runs.  In yhe end New Zealand's score reached 194/8 in 20 overs as they lost some late wickets . 


 Talking about Pak bowlers, Haris Rauf took 3 wickets, Abbas Afridi took 2 wickets, Aamir Jamal and Usama Mir took 1 wicket each.  Now Pakistan was faced with the challenge of chasing the runs.  The Pakistan team, which came out to chase, lost 2 wickets quickly.  Opener Saim Ayyub scored 1 run and Mohammad Rizwan scored 7 runs.  After this Babar Azam took over the innings of the team.  A brilliant hard hitting  fifty was also seen from the bat of Fakhar Zaman ( 50 off 25 balls ) as Pakistan  for a while looked like they may reach the target  .


 Babar played a total inning of 66 runs in 43 balls.  But he could not win the match.  Apart from this, Iftikhar Ahmed scored 4 runs, Azam Khan scored 2 runs and Aamir Jamal scored only 9 runs for Pakistan.  Shaheen Afridi was also out after scoring a breezy 22 runs in 13 balls.  Adam Milne bowled brilliantly and took a total of 4 wickets.  New Zealand now  needs only 1 win to capture  the T20 series.  Finn Allen for his match winning explosive batting was the player of the match
