Perry shines in her 300 game as Australia women level T20I series in style

After losing badly in the first T20 match, Australia women's cricket team has made a great comeback and defeated India in the second T20I match on Sunday.  In the match played at DY Patil Stadium in Mumbai, Australia defeated Team India by 6 wickets in front of an impressive capacity of over 42000 spectators in a womens game .  Team India, which was seen struggling for runs, somehow scored 130 runs after losing eight wickets in 20 overs.  Australia achieved this target by losing four wickets in 19 overs in the face of some spirited Indian bowling effort .  This was the 300th international match of Australia's Elise Perry in which she was in the winning side .

With this, Australia has levelled the three-match T20 series 1-1.  India had won the first match by nine wickets and now by winning the second match, Australia has taken the series to an exciting mode.  The third match will be played on the same ground on January 9.

Australia won the toss in this match and decided to bowl first.  Kim Garth gave a big blow to India in the very second over.  On the fourth ball, Garth showed the way to the pavilion to India's aggressive batter Shefali Verma.  She scored only one run.  Garth gave the second blow to India by dismissing Jemimah Rodrigues.  This right-handed player could score only 13 runs after starting with some dazzling strokes .  Smriti Mandhana at the other end could not take the good start much further.  She scored 23 runs on 26 balls.  Captain Harmanpreet Kaur could score only six runs.  Richa Ghosh and Deepti Sharma tried to take Team India to a strong score.  Richa scored 23 runs and Deepti scored 30 runs.  Richa hit two fours and a six in 19 balls.  Deepti hit five fours in 27 balls.  In the end Pooja Vastrakar scored nine runs, Amanjot Kaur scored four runs and Patil scored seven unbeaten runs. Kim Garth with 2/27 was the  most effective bowler.

Australia had to score 131 runs to win.  The target looked easy  but still Australia needed a good start so that there would be no problem in winning the match.  Captain Alyssa Healy and Beth Mooney gave a strong start to the team and added 51 runs for the first wicket.  On the first ball of the eighth over, Deepti Sharma showed Healy the way to the pavilion.  Her catch was taken by a diving Shreyanka Patil.  Healy scored 26 runs in 21 balls with the help of four fours.  It was Deepti who got the second wicket for Team India.  She got a struggling  Mooney stumped by Richa Ghosh on the first ball of the 10th over.  Mooney scored 20 runs on 29 balls.  Patil then gave the third blow to Australia by dismissing Tahila McGrath.  She could score only 19 runs and was out sweeping .  Pooja Vastrakar got Ashley Gardner caught by wicketkeeper Richa and Aussies were 4 down .  However, this did not make any difference to Australia.  Perry played an unbeaten knock of  34 good runs  and Phoebe Litchfield scored an unbeaten 18 runs full of improvised shots , leading the team to victory in style .

Kim Garth for her 2/27 was named the player of the match
