Mitchell , Southee fires New Zealand to 46 run win over Pak in 1st T20I

Pakistan's saga of international defeat continues even after change of formats .  Pakistan also changed Test and T20 captains but its benefit is not visible.  Under the captaincy of Shan Masood, the Pakistan team was defeated by Australia in the Test series, while the Pakistan T20 team led by Shaheen Afridi had to face a resounding  defeat in the very first T20 of the series in New Zealand.  In the first T20 match of the 5-match series played at Eden Park in Auckland, the host New Zealand batsmen thrashed the Pakistani bowlers.  As a result, the Kiwi team was successful in scoring 226 runs for 8 wickets.

In front of the mountainous score of New Zealand, the Pakistani team (NZ vs PAK) could not even play the full 20 overs and was all out  after scoring 180 runs with 12 balls remaining.  New Zealand won this match by 46 runs and took a 1-0 lead in the series.  Captain Kane Williamson, Daryl Mitchell and fast bowler Team Southee had important contributions in the victory of the host team.  Mitchell scored a dazzling  61 runs in 27 balls with the help of some brilliant straight sixes  while Williamson returned to the pavilion after scoring a strikeout  57 runs.  In bowling, there was havoc with the balls of Tim Southee, who took 4 wickets for 25 runs in 4 overs.

Before this, Pakistan's new captain Shaheen Afridi won the toss and decided to bowl first.  The Kiwi team did not have a good start and lost the first wicket for 1 run.  Devon Conway was out without opening the account, while Finn Allen returned to the pavilion after scoring 34 runs out of which he smashed 24 runs in one Afridi over in explosive style .  Mark Chapman played a quickfire  innings of 26 runs while Glenn Phillips was out after scoring 19 runs.  For Pakistan, Afridi took maximum 3 wickets while Abbas Afridi also took 3 wickets in his account.

Sam Ayub and Mohammad Rizwan started the innings for the Pakistan team chasing the target.  Both added 33 runs for the first wicket.  Ayub was out after scoring a breezy 27 runs on 8 balls and was looking promising  while Rizwan played an inning of 25 runs.  Babar Azam was out after scoring 57 runs in 35 balls while Iftikhar Ahmed contributed 24 runs.  Fakhar Zaman returned to the pavilion after scoring 15 runs and it was strange why he was not sent to open . Pakistan really needs to reset the batting order if they want to compete well against a powerful New Zealand  team.
