Shami's 5 wickets propel India to 1-0 series lead over Australia in 1st ODI

 


India started their 3 match ODI series vs Australia on a winning note beating the tourists by 5 wickets banking on great bowling by Mohammed Shami and good batting by the openers and middle order . 


Put into bat after losing the toss , Australia lost dangerous Mitchell Marsh in the very first over of the game . After cutting the second ball for a 4 , Marsh edged a superb outgoing ball from Shami that seamed slightly to be caught at first slip by Gill . However the two veteran pros  Warner and   Smith consolidated and then Warner after a slow start started to find his bearings and played several dazzling shots before he holed out to long on off Jadeja for 56  after a 94 run stand with Smith who was out shortly afterwards bowled by an off cutter from Shami for a workmanlike 41 . 


The innings slowed down in the middle overs with Cameron Green struggling to score quickly . Labuschagne looked good before he was stumped off Ashwin in a freak fashion for 39 ..the ball bouncing on the stumps off Rahul's gloves . Green was run out for 31 . Aussies got some momentum with a quick scoring partnership between Josh Inglis (45) and Stoinis (29) before they lost a cluster of wickets . However Pat Cummins smacked few big hits for his 21 off 9 balls as Australia reached a fighting total of 276 in 50 overs .


Shami with 5/51 was the peak of the Indian bowlers with Bumrah also bowling well to get one wicket.  



In reply India started fluently with Shubman  Gill and Ruturaj Gaikwad playing dazzling shots all around the ground . Gill was playing sublime drives and cuts as he looked million dollars while Gaikwad started to find his bearings soon to play his version of breathtaking shots as India galloped along to 142 for no loss in effortless fashion.  

Finally Zampa had Gaikwad lbw in trying to sweep for 71  and soon the luckless Shreyas Iyer (3) making a comeback was runout . 


Gill on 74 tried to cut Zampa and was bowled by a slider . However soon Zampa dropped two chances , the second one was a easier  one off Rahul as India was saved  from further blushes . 


Ishan Kishan and skipper KL Rahul was getting into a partnership till Ishan (18) was caught behind trying to upper cut Cummins . 


KL Rahul then partnered Surya Kumar  Yadav as both played with common sense to gradually work their way towards the target without playing risky shots . Surya played some glorious straight drives as he played more safer and  orthodox strokes . However he got down soon after reaching 50 off 49 balls caught by Marsh off Abbott though India were well in control by then . Rahul finished the match with a 4 & 6 to remain 58 not out as India won by 5 wickets with 8 balls remaining . For Australia Zampa was their best bowler taking 2 wickets . Cummins bowled well playing his first game after Ashes series .


As this series is a build up towards the World cup , more changes are expected in both teams as  they play the next game at Indore .

Red alert of more heavy rains in Maharashtra, closures announced in schools, colleges in some districts

  It is raining continuously in many districts of Maharashtra.  The Meteorological Department has issued a red alert for 4 districts, expressing the possibility of heavy to very heavy rains in the state today i.e. on Thursday.  Keeping this in mind, a holiday has been declared today (July 27) for schools and colleges in Mumbai, Thane, Ratnagiri and Chandrapur districts.  Orange alert of rain has been issued in Raigarh district.  In such a situation, the district administration will take a decision on the basis of the situation with Raigad district.  On the other hand, July 27 has been declared a holiday for all government, private schools, all colleges, all ashram schools, business and training centers within Panvel Municipal Corporation limits.  The Meteorological Department has predicted heavy to very heavy rainfall in Mumbai as well as Thane, Ratnagiri and Chandrapur.  In such a situation, keeping in view the possibility of heavy rains, school students of class I to 12 of all medium

Heavy rains totally disrupts train services in Mumbai area, CM orders early closure of Govt Offices

  Due to heavy rains in Maharashtra, the speed of Mumbai local has slowed down.  Many trains have been cancelled and diverted. Due to heavy rains in Thane district adjacent to Mumbai, the track changing point on the Kalyan-Kasara route was damaged, due to which train services on this route were stopped on Wednesday afternoon.  A senior railway official gave this information.  The Central Railway also informed that it has diverted some mail and express trains on Diva-Panvel-Karjat route and Daund-Manmad route, besides terminating some trains between Mumbai and Pune.   Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde on Wednesday ordered that the government offices in Mumbai and the neighboring region should be closed early.
