Asian Games23 : All set for opening ceremony on 23 Sept , Indian footballers hammered 5-1 by China

 



The stage is set for the much awaited 19th Asian Games to be held in Hangzhou in China one year later than schedule . After the Jakarta Asian games 5 years have passed . The games was originally scheduled in 2022 but due to another Covid outbreak at China it is postponed by a year 



The opening ceremony is scheduled for September 23 and the closing ceremony will take place on October 8. All competitions will be held across 56 venues in Hangzhou. 


India this time is sending their largest ever contingent of 655 athletes with great medal hopes in Hockey, Cricket ( both men & women) , boxing, wrestling , weightlifting, archery , shooting , badminton, athletics etc 


For Asian Games 2018 in Jakarta, India sent a contingent of 570 athletes, and bagged a tally of 70 medals, including a haul of 16 golds. This was their best medal haul in Asian Games history.


The football tournament has already started and India got a brutal thrashing from China to lose by 5-1 on the opening day. After fighting hard in the first half at 1-1 including a penalty save by the Indian keeper  , Indian defence failed to withstand the pressure in the second half and China run riot  banging in 4 goals and finally won by a 5-1 margin .
