Livingstone rescue act takes England to emphatic win over New Zealand in 2nd ODI

England wins a truncated second ODI vs New Zealand at Southampton convincingly after being on the ropes for early part of the match . The ODI series is level at 1-1

The match started late after a rain delay and it was reduced to 34 overs a side .

Back in New Zealand colours after a long stint in Global leagues , Trent Boult looked in ominous form as he knocked over Bairstow (6), caught superbly by Santner ,  Root (0) lbw to an inswinger & Stokes (1) caught at mid off as England slipped to 8/3 . Henry knocked over Brook (2) and Santner had Buttler (30) bowled as England slipped further to 55/5 .

However Liam Livingstone came out and started playing sensibly while Moeen Ali (33) attacked before he was superbly caught by a diving Phillips off Southee . Then came the partnership of the innings between Livingstone and Sam Curran . Livingstone played glorious shots as he got into his flow while Curran too got into the act with a crisp 42 . Livingstone closed the innings well with a 78 ball 95 not out as England finished creditably at 226/7 after being 55/5 .  Boult was the most successful bowler with 3 wickets .

In reply New Zealand lost Allen (0) quickly to Willey . Conway and Young had a 49 run stand before Conway (14) was caught behind off Aktinson. Young (33) looked in good touch before he was run out . Daryl Mitchell , the hero of previous game was building a partnership with Latham (14)  was caught behind off Topley at 111/4 . From that point there was a major collapse as New Zealand inexplicably lost 7/36 and even Mitchell (57) could not rescue his team . Left arm quicks David Willey and Reece Topley with 3 wickets apiece were the main destroyers as England go into the 3rd ODI all square .
