Ashwin replaces injured Axar as India announce final World cup squad

 


Ravichandran Ashwin after few decent outings just before the squad confirmation deadline for World cup , has finally made his way into the final world cup squad as Axar Patel failed to recover in time from his injury sustained at the Asia Cup .



Ashwin replacing Axar was the only change made as Indian selectors released the final world cup squad , hours after Australia did the same .



The Indian squad comprises of 3 frontline spinners of which 2 are allrounders, 3 frontline quicks and 2 fast bowling allrounders and 7 batters of which 2 are keepers. 


This means Shardul Thakur even after a few indifferent performances has managed to hold on to his spot .


India will be playing England at Guwahati as their first world cup warm up game . Their world cup campaign starts on October 8th vs 5 times world champions Australia at Chennai

Olympics24 : Ten men India edge out Britain in tie breaker to storm into hockey SF

  India reached the Olympic hockey semifinals by defeating Britain in a shootout. The match ended 1-1 in regulation time, leading to a shootout where India won 4-2. India played with ten players for 42 minutes to secure the victory. In the semifinals, India will face the winner of the Germany-Argentina match. A win in Tuesday's match will ensure a silver medal for last time's bronze winners at the Paris Olympics. Following the advice of video umpire , Indian defender Amit Rohidas was shown a red card in the fourth minute of the second quarter for unintentional stick contact with a British player’s head.
