India has already started their medal quest in the Hangzhou Asian Games as Rowing & Shooting brings the initial medals .

In Rowing competition Arjun Lal Jat and Arvind Singh won the  silver in the men's lightweight double sculls while  Lekh Ram and Babu Lal Yadav clinch the bronze in the Men's pair rowing final.

India's women shooter trio Ramita, Mehuli Ghosh, and Ashi Chouksey  won the silver medal in the women's 10m Air Rifle event. Also Ramita won a bronze in individual event of 10m Air Rifle

India started with a bang as they thrash Uzbekistan 16-0  in their 1st Group stage match . India were clinical in their free flowing  attacks and goal conversions . They were very good with their penalty corner conversions and scored some fine field goals against admittedly a weaker opponent

Lalit Upadhyay scored 4 goals , Varun & Mandeep scored  hattricks

India mens hockey  next play Singapore on Tuesday

In the women's cricket India reached the final and thereby assured of a medal by thrashing Bangladesh by 8 wickets in a low scoring semi final . Bangladesh batted first and scored only 51 as Pooja Vastrakar with her fiery pace bowling ripped apart their top order with 4/17 . Only skipper Joti (12) reached double figures for Bangladesh in an appalling batting performance  despite a few dropped catches by India . In reply though Smriti (7) was dismissed by Marufa , Shafali (17) played a cameo and Rodrigues (20*) finished the game in a comfortable chase.

India will face Sri Lanka in the final for the gold medal.  Sri Lanka outplayed Pakistan in a much closer game afterwards.  Batting first Pakistan could get only 75/9 in 20 overs as their batters struggled against Sri Lanka spinners on a helpful bowling pitch . Probhodani took 3 wickets & Dilhari took 2 wickets for Lanka . In reply Pakistan managed to get the dangerous Athapaththu (14) early but Anushka (15) scored quickly and later Harshita (23) & Nilakshi D Silva (18*) ensured no big hiccups as Sri Lanka won by 6 wickets
