Foundation stone laid for new cricket stadium at Varanasi

  



The foundation stone has ben laid for the new cricket stadium at Varanasi. Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who reached Varanasi, laid the foundation stone of Purvanchal's first and UP's third international cricket stadium in Ganjari.  A glimpse of Lord Shiva and Kashi will be seen in this stadium.  The shape of this stadium will be half-moon shaped, in which the flood lights installed will be in the shape of a trident.  The building will have the design of Belpatra and the shape of Damru will also be visible in the design of the press box .  There will be a spectator gallery like the stairs of Ganga Ghat.  It will have seven pitches (practice and main wicket), lounge, commentary box, press gallery and other state-of-the-art facilities.

 BCCI President Roger Binny, Secretary Jai Shah and Vice President Rajeev Shukla, Hemang Amin and Priyank Shah, former cricketers Sunil Gavaskar, Sachin Tendulkar and Ravi Shastri, Dilip Vengsarkar, Kapil Dev, Gundappa at the foundation stone laying ceremony of the International Cricket Stadium in Ganjari.  Vishwanath, Madan Lal, Karsan Ghavri and Girish Dongre along with other cricket personalities were present.




 PM Modi said that its construction will provide an opportunity to hone the talent of cricket players from Purvanchal as well as Bihar, Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh.  It will have seven pitches (practice and main wicket), lounge, commentary box, press gallery and other modern facilities.  PM Modi ended his address with the slogan of Har-Har Mahadev.


 The state government has spent Rs 121 crore on acquiring land for the international cricket stadium to be built on 30.86 acres of land in Ganjari at a cost of Rs 451 crore.  BCCI will spend Rs 330 crore to construct the stadium.


The state government has leased land to UPCA for the construction of this stadium, which will be completed in about 30 months.  This will be UP's third international cricket stadium in Kashi after Kanpur and Lucknow.


 A sports city will be built between Lal Bahadur Shastri International Airport and the cricket stadium to be built in Ganjari.  Facilities will be developed for the players.  Hotels, clinics, amusement parks, shopping malls, fitness centers will be built.  Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has given its in-principle consent.
