Guyana Amazon Warriors blow away Trinibago Knight Riders to win 1st ever CPL title in 2023




Guyana Amazon Warriors win their 1st ever Carribean Premier League title by thrashing the star studded Trinibago Knight Riders in clinical fashion by 9 wickets in a hopelessly one sided final at the Providence Stadium Guyana . This is their first ever CPL title after 5 previously failed attempts .

TKR  have a power packed batting lineup with top global T20 superstars like Pooran, skipper Pollard , Russell , Bravo & Narine but on this day on a tricky pitch their power hitting tactics completely fell apart as South African Dwayne Pretorius used all his bowling skills , changing the pace , bowling accurate lines to completely frustrate the high octane strokeplay of TKR batters . None of Pooran , Pollard , Russell & Bravo reached double figures as the whole batting cut a sorry figure to be all out for 94 in 18.1 overs . Only Keacy Carty with a sensible 38 off 45 balls played a sensible innings realizing that on this pitch , more technical soundness and strike rotation was required rather than explosive strokeplay . Player of the match Pretorius took 4/26 to set up the easy win while spinners Motie and the evergreen captain Imran Tahir took 2 wickets each on a helpful surface .

GAW chased down the paltry target of 95 with ease as Pakistani Saim Ayub took heavy toll of the quicker bowlers of TKR to finish the game with a belligerent  52 off 41 balls with 5 sixes while Shai Hope played orthodox cricket to remain 32 not out as GAW cantered home to with by 9 wickets in 14 overs .


Shai Hope was the player of the tournament with 481 runs while Pretorius was the highest wicket taker with 20 wickets .

Red alert of more heavy rains in Maharashtra, closures announced in schools, colleges in some districts

Heavy rains totally disrupts train services in Mumbai area, CM orders early closure of Govt Offices

  Due to heavy rains in Maharashtra, the speed of Mumbai local has slowed down.  Many trains have been cancelled and diverted. Due to heavy rains in Thane district adjacent to Mumbai, the track changing point on the Kalyan-Kasara route was damaged, due to which train services on this route were stopped on Wednesday afternoon.  A senior railway official gave this information.  The Central Railway also informed that it has diverted some mail and express trains on Diva-Panvel-Karjat route and Daund-Manmad route, besides terminating some trains between Mumbai and Pune.   Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde on Wednesday ordered that the government offices in Mumbai and the neighboring region should be closed early.
