Rugby World cup shaken by Australia's stunning defeat to Fiji

 



The Rugby World cup 2023 is being held in France  since 8th  September 2023 and the final will be played on 28th October 2023 .  All eyes are on the mega event in with hosts France are hot favorites, followed by top ranked  teams like New Zealand, Ireland  and reigning champions South Africa .


20 teams are divided into 4 pools of 5 teams each. In Pool A  hosts France have done well so far with wins over New Zealand  27-13 and and Uruguay  27-12 and Italy & New Zealand have beaten Namibia by big margins. 


Pool B has Ireland and  South Africa as leading teams and  both teams are on a winning momentum currently against Romania , Scotland and Tonga


Pool C has Wales , Fiji, Australia, Georgia & Portugal . Wales have notched up wins vs Portugal (28-8) & Fiji (32-26) while Australia beat Georgia 35-16 


Pool D has England, Argentina, Japan , Samoa and Chile . While England have beaten Argentina 27-10 , Chile have suffered heavy defeats to Samoa and Japan .


However it's the latest match of pool C between Australia and Fiji that has caused a big sensation .  Australia are stunned by the spirited Fiji team 22-15 !!  


The twice world champions Australia lost to Fiji for the first time in 69 years .  Fiji who missed out narrowly on a win vs Wales , were very direct in their approach  with their direct running , 11 turnovers and explosive tackling.  


The Wallabies were left  frustrated by a tight Fiji game in the last stages of the game . Joshua Tuisova of Fiji  was the player of the match as the two time champions Australia have a cracking game vs Wales to avoid a possible and shocking first round exit .
