Indian shooters dominate on day 4 of Asian Games 2022 with flurry of medals

 


Indian shooters are showing strength in the Asian Games in Hangzlou.  India won 11 medals from shooting in four days.  Among them 3 gold, 3 silver and 5 bronze.  Four Indian shooters set world records.  Among them three in team competition and one in individual competition.


Indian shooters have been showing their strength since Wednesday morning.  Two more medals came in shooting.  This time Sift Kaur Samra won gold in women's 50m rifle 3 positions individual competition.  Ashi Choksi won bronze in the same competition.   Choksi had to be content with winning the bronze as she hit the last shot badly.  Earlier, Ashi and Sift gave silver to India in women's team 50m rifle 3 positions.  India won their fifth gold in the Asian Games.



 Sift scored three shots of 50.4, 51.7 and 52.5 in kneeling, for a total of 154.6.  She scored 52.6, 52.9 and 63.0 in the three rounds of prone, for a total of 172.5.  Combining the two categories, the Sift score is 312.5.  On the other hand, Ashi scored 50.6, 49.6 and 52.3 in three shots, ie a total of 152.5.  She scored 53.0, 53.0 and 63.3 in the three rounds of prone, for a total of 169.3.  Combining the two categories, the Sift score was 311.6.


 The fight starts from standing.  One contestant is eliminated with every shot.  From the start Sift was first and Ashi second.  But Ashi hit his last shot badly.  She had to be content with winning bronze instead of silver with just 8.9 marks.  Eighty total points 451.9.  Sift did nothing wrong.  She won gold with 469.6 points and smashed world record. 



Meanwhile 18 year old Eisha Singh claimed the silver medal in the 25 m pistol after a remarkable comeback 


However Eisha Singh , Manu Bhaker and Rhythm Sangwan competed brilliantly in the 25 m pistol team event to win the Gold 



India's women hockey team has launched their Asian Games campaign with a big 13-0  win over Singapore . 


Overall India has now reached  22 medals in 4 days with a break up of 5 golds 7 silvers and 10 bronze . 

China true to their reputation of a sporting giant in Asia leads with  123 medals and 68 golds . South Korea and Japan are at 2nd and 3rd spot respectively with 59 and 55 medals followed by Hongkong with 25 medals just 3 ahead of India .
