Relentless rains in Maharashtra makes flood situation more critical
People are troubled by the torrential rains in most of the states of the country. Monsoon rains are becoming a disaster for many states including Telangana, Maharashtra. Today i.e. on Friday morning also, heavy to very heavy rain and very heavy rain activities can be seen in many areas in Mumbai and its suburbs. Along with this, winds can also blow at a speed of 40 to 50 km.
All the districts of Maharashtra are battling with heavy waterlogging and flood situation amid torrential rains. Orange alert has been issued for rain again in the state today. Heavy rains have thrown life out of gear in several parts of Maharashtra including Mumbai, Thane, Raigad and Palghar districts. The condition of Hingoli is very bad.
In Hingoli, the connectivity of many villages with the city has been completely cut off, the roads are submerged in water. Inundation is visible everywhere, many temples have been submerged in water. Taking the risk, people are crossing the roads submerged in floods. At the same time, there was such a flood in Akola that the bridge built at a cost of Rs 4 crore on the highway going to Akot was washed away in the flood water. In Nagpur too, people are horrified to see the overflow of river drains. It is as if a river is flowing in the streets and residential areas of Nagpur. At the same time, water entered the low-lying areas.
According to the Meteorological Department, the rain activities will reduce in Maharashtra from tomorrow i.e. Saturday. As the low pressure over Odisha will move north east i.e. towards Gangetic West Bengal, a decrease in rain activities will be recorded over Maharashtra. However, rain activities will continue over Konkan and Sahyadri Ghats.
A landslide was reported on Thursday night near the Kamshet tunnel on the Mumbai-Pune Expressway, affecting vehicular movement. The landslide incident took place around 8 pm. As soon as the news of landslide came to light, Highway Police personnel reached the spot and started the work of removing debris from the road so that the movement of vehicles could be started.
