Pooran scores breathtaking 137 in 55 balls to win MI New York 1st Major league title

  



MI New York won the Major Cricket League title in its inaugural year by defeating Seattle Orcas by 7 wickets in the final match.  In the final match at the grand Prarie Stadium in Dallas , MI New York captain Nicholas Pooran scored a blistering  century and led his team to victory.  None of the Seattle Orcas bowlers could stand in front of him.  Seattle Orcas gave MI New York a target of 184 runs to win, which MI New York achieved easily.


Seattle Orcas won the 1st Qualifier vs Texas Super Kings by 9 wickets to reach the final with DeKock scoring a dazzling 88 whereas MI New York beat Washington Freedom by 16 runs in a low scoring eliminator to reach the final .


 


 MI New York captain Nicholas Pooran won the toss and decided to bowl first, which proved to be absolutely correct.  Seattle Orcas opener Nuaman Anwar was dismissed after scoring just 9 runs.  After this, Quinton de Kock took over the responsibility of scoring runs for Seattle.  He scored a dazzling  87 runs in 52 balls, which included 9 fours and 4 long sixes and some glorious drives , pulls & cuts .  At the same time, Shubham Ranjane scored 29 runs.  Dwayne Pretorius contributed a blistering  21 runs.  Apart from these players, no batsman could play a big innings, but because of De Kock's innings, Seattle's team scored 183 runs at the loss of 9 wickets.



 Rashid Khan bowled brilliantly for MI New York.  He took 3 wickets for 9 runs in 4 overs including the prize scalp of Henrich  Klaasen for 4.  Apart from Rashid, Trent Boult took 3 wickets.  David Wiese and Steven Taylor got 1 wickets each in their account.



 Chasing a target of 184 runs, MI New York did not get off to a good start when Steven Taylor was dismissed without scoring by Imad Wasim.  After this, Captain Nicholas Pooran made the match one-sided with his explosive batting.  He hit breathtaking strokes all over the ground and completed his century in just 40 balls. The pulls, drives , lofted shots , cuts and flicks flowed as Pooran took apart the opposition in style.  He scored 137 runs in 55 balls in the match, which included 10 fours and 13 sixes.  Due to his brilliant innings, he was given the 'Man of the Match' award.  Apart from him, Dewald Brewis scored 20 runs and Tim David scored 10 runs.  None of the bowlers from the Seattle Orcas side failed to make an impact.
