Weather: Delhi on alert , as Yamuna crosses danger mark , Junagarh in Gujarat reeling under rains

 



The water level of Yamuna in Delhi has again crossed the danger mark.  The water level had reached 205.81 meters at 7 am after 2 lakh cusecs of water was released from Hathinikund Barrage on Sunday morning.



 The water level remained around the danger mark (205.33 metres) on Saturday.  Many of those who had returned to their homes after the water receded, returned to the relief camps on Saturday.

 On the previous day, there were incidents of cloudburst in Kullu and Shimla of Himachal, while 7 deaths have also taken place in different accidents.  With this, the death toll in the monsoon has increased to 154 in the state.



 Gujarat's Junagadh city was flooded after 10 inches of rain fell in four hours on Saturday.  Though the rains have stopped, many areas are still under water up to five feet.


 Four days after the landslide in Maharashtra's Irshalwadi village, 82 people are still missing.  The death toll has gone up to 26.  In Yavatmal, 45 people stranded in the flood were airlifted with the help of two helicopters of the Air Force.


 How will be the next 24 hours

 Heavy rains will occur in these states: Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Gujarat, Telangana, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Andhra Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Assam, Meghalaya, West Bengal, Arunachal Pradesh.



Hundreds of kutcha houses collapsed in many areas including Durvesh Nagar, Ganesh Nagar, Joshipara due to rains in Junagadh city of Gujarat on Saturday.  The one-storey houses here were submerged, due to which the household goods were destroyed.  Section 144 has been imposed in the city and district.  People have been appealed not to leave the house till the night of 24th July without any work.


 All tourist places in and around Junagadh city have also been banned.  People have been appealed to stay away from dams and check dams.  The Meteorological Department has issued a red alert for heavy rains in Bhavnagar, Navsari, Junagadh and Valsad for Sunday as well.
