Pathetic Windies batting helps India in easy win in 1st ODI

Keeping an eye on winning the World Cup, the Indian cricket team, which has started its preparations, has started the ODI series against the West Indies with a win.  The team of Rohit Sharma and Rahul Dravid, busy in shaping their preparations, surprised everyone by completely upsetting the batting order.  The team achieved the modest target of 115 runs from the West Indies by losing 5 wickets.  Apart from the deadly spin of Ravindra Jadeja and Kuldeep Yadav, Ishan Kishan's fiery half-century proved important in the team's victory.

During the toss before the start of the match, Indian captain Rohit Sharma had also said that he will try some new things in this series and try to give everyone a chance.  It started by giving Mukesh Kumar a chance to debut, but hardly anyone would have expected the change seen in the batting of the Indian team.

India had bundled out the West Indies for just 114 runs.  In such a situation, the target never seemed to prove difficult.  In such a situation, coach Rahul Dravid and captain Rohit together gave middle order batsmen a chance to spend more time at the crease.  It started with the opening, where Ishan Kishan was sent along with regular opener Shubman Gill.

Ishan Kishan returned to the opening and did what he keeps doing in this position.  The left-handed batsman scored a blistering half-century.  On the other hand, the rest of the experiments could not be successful.  Before that, however, this tour for Gill seems to be struggling  in ODIs after Tests.  This time he returned to the pavilion after scoring only 7 runs.

Suryakumar Yadav was sent at number three, who had earlier become the victim of a golden duck (out on zero on the first ball) in 3 consecutive matches against Australia in March.  Surya (19) opened the account here but his failure in the ODI format continued and he was dismissed by left-arm spinner Gudkesh Moti.  Then came vice-captain Hardik Pandya but he was unfortunately run out.

After this, Ravindra Jadeja was sent, who continued his strong batting.  The most shocking decision was shown after the fall of Ishan (52), when Shardul Thakur was sent.  However, he too could not survive  Eventually, captain Rohit had to come in for batting at number seven and he along with Jadeja won the match in the 23rd over.

Windies batting failed in front of spinners

There may have been experiments in batting, but nothing special happened in bowling.  However, in the absence of senior fast bowlers, Hardik Pandya started the bowling attack and got the wicket of opener Kyle Meyers in his second over.  At the same time, Mukesh Kumar, who is making his ODI debut after the Test within a week, also got his first success in his fourth over.  Shardul Thakur got the third wicket, who bowled Brandon King.

West Indies had lost 3 wickets for just 45 runs, after which captain Shai Hope (43) handled the innings along with Shimron Hetmyer.  There was a 43-run partnership between the two in which Hope dominated.  Ravindra Jadeja (3/26) broke this partnership by dismissing Hetmyer and also the back of the Windies batting partner.  This wicket fell on the score of 88 and the whole team collapsed on 114.  Of the next 6 wickets, 2 went to Jadeja and 4 to Kuldeep Yadav (4/6), whose chinaman spin proved to be a puzzle for the Windies batsmen.
